Good luck with the new bike.

Wouldn't a GS Adventure outfitted with bags,crash bars and additional lights cost nearly twice as much money as the Stelvio?

Congratulations!
There are no more new Stelvios advertised here. The last ones (including mine) were sold for around €16.000 (USD 18.640).
You got a good deal!

That's a good price.   In 2010, I paid $11,000 even for my new 2009, but it didn't come with the accessories that the NTX does, so it was about $2,100 to add them.

At the time, $13,100 was a really good price for a fully equipped Stelvio.   I wouldn't have missed the last 6 years of riding it, though .... !!

Agreed.  After considering so many other bikes the Stelvio just makes the most sense for my mission specs. Know it's going to depreciate like a brick, but I grappled with that and got to my happy place about it.

Guzzi's are for life. My Norge is near worthless with the mileage on the bike(even without the mileage), and while I would like the 8V version or a Stelvio,  I'm not quite willing to sell a perfectly good motorcycle for chump change.

But I am familiar with this shop and they have about $2000 or more add-on costs before you get to the real price before any shipping charges.  Am I correct??

No, it wasn't that high before shipment/transport:

$ 495 Freight
   600 Setup/prep
   369 documents
   -----
$ 1464

$   725 Enclosed transport 1500 miles to my house
 -------
$ 2189

In hindsight, I might have been able to save a hundred or so by rolling my own transport service -- i.e. selecting the transport carrier myself.  I did check online via inputting zipcodes into different providers online quote forms and most were within $50 either side of the $725 charge of the dealer.

Why didn't I do a fly and buy?  Few reasons.  Yes, could have made a mini Vegas Vacation out of it, but I wasn't keen on making my first mount onto a bike since my accident in February be an attempt to ride a spankin' new unfamiliar bike cross country 1500 miles to home.  Much rather get acquainted with this new steed around the local patch.  Also not a fan of long steady highway droning on a brand new engine that needs broken in.  So no fly and buy  :sad:

Had $17,779 to use toward bike from insurance payout on the totaled '16 Multistrada 1200.  Stayed well within that including $$ for new gear.  Happy.   :cool:

Dang! I paid $13,500 for my new '16 and thought I got a great deal! I feel like buying another, just to even out the price.   Lee

You definitely scored!  I got these to replace my aux lights and have very happy with them--I did not put in-line fuses. For $100 on amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019X7HRDS/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I really turned them wide and low (ish)  they are on at all times in the day for visibility to others (and even help from the side some) and at night on back roads as deer lights.  I don't get oncoming drivers flashing brights at me but I usually don't have them on when I expect other vehicles.  They are that bright!

Congrats on a really good deal on a really nice do it all all-road bike.

BTW, need a top box? I've got a Trax top box (matches the side cases) with mtg plate that is not being used that I could part with.

The best part of riding a motorcycle is to tilt the horizon and to lift the front coming out of a corner and to drift the back end powering thru loose dirt and to catch a little air topping a hill and... yeah it's all good!

Thanks.  Don't need a topper yet.  My fiancee won't ride passenger since I totaled the Ducati five months ago, not much need for the extra storage and backrest capabilities yet.
