The Clan
« on: August 07, 2017, 01:13:38 PM »
Anyone a member of the "Clan" on the Moto Guzzi US site?  Curious. I have an account there (which is a very cumbersome process in and of itself) but every time I try to login it tells me my username /password is incorrect. After contacting them several times and even trying the automatic password reset, I can see why dealers are abandoning the brand. The support on that site alone is awful.  Heck, we're just a 5 person all volunteer team here and our support stomps them.

I mainly wanted to see what it was all about, but now, I could care less. What a bitter taste.

That has been exactly my experience, Luap.

That is also been my reaction.

Pretty lame operation.

Same experience. I've also done some tweeting of bike pics, etc using the Guzzi hashtags but if you don't pass muster I guess it doesn't get posted. My Racer facebook page has over 500 followers (mostly international) but Guzzi has little interest in boosting those posts either.

Same thing happened to me. And it was impossible to get any reaction from them. I ended up reregistering with a different email address.
What they have done however is make the registration slightly easier in that you no longer need to have the VIN validated.
But I agree, the whole registration & password thing is a disaster. Once you've got on though, the actual site itself is quite nicely done.

I took a look at it when it was introduced and wasn't impressed. Unfortunately web presence - whether the audience is consumers or dealers - has not been a strong point for Piaggio for some time, and this does nothing to improve on that.

I also ended up getting more emails about events in Europe than in the rest of the world combined. While I have some intellectual curiosity about such things, it's not the kind of news that makes a rider in western North America feel more engaged by the brand.

The "no VIN" must be newish.

I only started this byzantine process a few weeks ago.  Took more than a week for them to run a background check on my VIN and me.

Guess I failed.

You still need a VIN, but it now doesn't seem to need validation. At least my Stelvio is unvalidated, but I have full access.

I joined.  It was a pain.  Never, Never, ever do I see any emails or updates from them.

I figured "Guzzi Clan" had gone defunct.

If you all aren't using the specified synthetic weight extra virgin olive oil on your pasta, you are not gonna be accepted into the Mafia, er I mean Clan.  They check using your email address and purchasing history.  The VIN is a ruse.  Very clever.

Ok, BILL??

LOL I gave up, too.  Squadra Guzzista on Facebook is way more fun anyway.  I am getting a lot of tips in advance of my trip to Mandello next spring.

I don't mind that or see it as any special marketing gaffe.  After all, guys with names like McGregor and McCallan were wearing skirts and bravely breaking heads face-to-face long before the Kowardly folks in hoods were lynching unarmed innocents.

I joined the Clan, it was a bit cumbersome, but now I get in with a single click, but there is a trick, at least for me.  As far as I can tell the same club goes by two names.  "Proud Owners" is one, the other is "The Clan"  two names same club.   I can get in only by visiting http://theclan.motoguzzi.com/en/   if I try to use the "Proudowners" web site, it won't recognize me.

I do get frequent emails from them as well.  They update me each time they add new content to their web site.  Most of its silly crap a seasoned rider already knows, but at least their trying.

I have had the same issues. I reset the password twice tonight and it still won't let me log in with the password(s) it says I just successfully changed! I give up.

Jeez.  Glad to see it wasn't just me.  Kinda hard to promote something if you make it next to impossible to get in.  I've even sent them emails.  Oh well, this site does everything I need anyway :thumb:

I joined when it was first offfered. I didn't think it offered me much so I haven't been to it in months. Checked it out again tonight. Still not much to offer me. Thanks anyway.
