Yes,  that is what the manual states and mine was pretty close to that quantity. Are you positive the tube is fully inserted when measuring?  If you had disassembled the leg are you sure it is back together correctly and are you positive that you measured the fluid correctly? Not to throw shade on your talents,  just asking.
A slight difference in the tube insertion makes a pretty big volume change for the purposes of this measurement.

Isn't it 540 ml......18.2 oz to get it 110mm from the top (4.33 inches)  without the spring or preload pipe?

Is it acceptable to just dump the old stuff out and after washing, just up end the requisite volume in. I've changed mine 6 times in 130,000 and no problems at all.

I'm sure close is close enough as your experience shows. It seems that what Guzzi is after is a particular volume of air in the unit. That would affect rate under heavy compression. Just a thought.

Thanks for the input, I went with my gut and history of guzzi double speak. I dropped that black tube in and the level came to 140mm, bolted it all together, went for a 100 mile shake down, no leaks, shakes all seems well. I torn to down to replace seals and dust caps.
