All that and a dish of chicken vindaloo - thanks, Lister!

Chad, thanks for posting. I realize these bikes have a less than stellar reliability history, but they are certainly beautiful little machines. I only wish that when they redesigned the 500cc single, they'd have incorporated a counterbalancer. However, I've never ridden one (probably should, just to satisfy my curiosity.) I suppose if ridden in the environment intended, and cruising at 40-50mph, it might be a pleasant machine.

I had a new 2014 bullet 500. Great little burger bike. Can't really cruise on American highways with it though. Way too buzzy. Great in town "second" bike I did some vintage touches that turned out pretty good

Good Day.. new guy here .. (2nd post) .... thought I'd visit previous postings and add to this one.
A few years ago I wouldn't think of a Enfield.. it was pretty much the old British leaker, oil and voltage. But now they are squared away. We have a sidecar on ours. I discovered sidecars have rules. (scary at first) I'v done a 800 mile weekend (Road America) and 150 mile with the wife. Had to use the interstate (I-90) to beat a dark nasty rain front .... The rig did 65 MPH for 90 miles.. no problem.. of course everybody else was do 75 plus. But the rig is much happier on secondary and county roads.
So.. I tell interested inquiries ... yes.. get one but remember it operates best at 50-55 and avoid the interstates. I'm told the solo (non sidecar) do better. :)

It just goes to show the most buyers don't lay their money on the 180 MPH, machines, or the layer back feet kicked out cruisers, or the angular styled modern Jap bikes. They like the traditional lines of an old fashioned motorcycle that performs like an old fashioned motorcycle, and can be worked on by an average owner rider.
The prices reflect this too.

When you have 1,000,000,000 people within your borders and don't allow lots of outside influence it easy to sell what you produce. I had a 2012 C5 bullet and it was a nice bike. I bought it new for less than $3,500 OTD and at that price point it was a decent deal. Anywhere at or near MSRP is 1,000% absolutely overriced for a novelty bike.
If Indian's had access to reasonable access to Asian big bike w/o tons of tariffs RE would be a distant memory

The new Himalayan with the OHC 400 motor looks interesting. Wouldn't mind trying one. They've been selling a while in India but just become available here. I think there must be a market for a low power / high torque / long stroke and light adventure bike.
