Tonight I watched Zarco (France) win 1st, Marquez (Spain) 3rd for the front row of the Japanese GP Sunday.  Believe Rossi starts on the 4th row.

The track conditions were semi-wet.  Early Marquez set a blistering lap time w/wet rain tires compared to all others.  Guess he thought it was good enough to win the pole and then switched to slicks.  Rossi started on slicks and never got near the fastest times.  Vinales, Dovi, Lorenzo times were somewhere in the middle of theirs.  Weather conditions for the race are iffy right now.

If you missed this last night looks like it will be on again tonight @ 6:50 pm out west, 3:50 pm back east on BEin. :azn:

This was, without a doubt, the best GP race I've seen in a while. so close in the last few laps, and Rossi crashed out  :weiner:

It looked like Rossi took an extra bit of time to shake it off... age doesn't forgive anyone.

At the last corner Dovi read Marcus like a cheap novel. He'd seen the plot in an earlier race this year.

It was on here @ 10pm even tho earlier the TV didn't say so.  By luck I caught the last 6 laps when the action really got intense?.   Desmo Dovi played Marc perfectly on the last lap causing him to almost lose it in a corner  :boxing:  before passing him for the win. GO Dovi: !!!   :thumb:   Will watch the whole race @ 5pm here today.

Those guys were going so fast in the corners thru so much water I couldn't believe it!

All the racers complained about loss of traction on their rear tires probably because there was so much water on the track!

Fully agree!!

Really incredible to watch these guys get that much traction in these kinds of conditions, and still pulling 290Km/h on the back stretch as well and then dropping to 70 km/h into the corners!

Hats off to all the riders for a truly spectacularly fun race to watch!

just played my DVR.

WOW.

Dovi!  Dovi!

BTW...these guys were racing wheel to wheel in the rain, passing each other back & forth.  I think NASCAR had half a dozen cars running at 'degga.  Art vs palooka-ville.

not sure,  he might've broken it again kicking his crashed bike.

Rossi pulled out of this race because he crashed again on the 7th lap and didn't want to damage his leg again since he crashed while qualifying and claims it was OK afterwards but that his whole body hurt this time afterwards.  :lipsrsealed:  Maybe, just maybe  old man (in RR terms) Rossi will decide to actually pack it in this year.  He hasn't decided yet if he wants to keep on racing after this season.

He will announce this winter that next year will be his last. No way with his ego that he doesn't do a victory lap.

I don't think he'll retire next year.  My guess at least to more and maybe 3 more years.

He's fast and competitive and is more than equal to his teammate.

Should be a great three more races for the championship.  I'm thinking Rossi cares a lot about his legacy as the goat, and MM is the threat.  If Dovi wins the championship, that is one more MM does not win.

I expect Rossi riding balls out at Phillips Island to put himself ahead of MM.  Exactly what he accused MM of a couple of years ago.

that would be hilarious, Rob.   I don't think Rossi would do it- he's too much a sportsman and won't tarnish his legacy.

And he's probably not be fast enough to try.
