1st generation do not come with the fog lights...not even had a relay. I installed LED fog lights not the issues with the stock Hella lights. The later NTX comes with the light...first gen just has the circuits and switches.

Can't explain the short issue other than my dealer had to run separate grounds before from the ecu. There seems to be a problem based on recall. My ecu has been replaced once under warranty to by a previous owner.

Once the lights are installed, they are on the same fuse as the rest of the bike. You DO need to add a fuse on the wires to the lights, OR better insulate the tail coming off the bulb. I used 3M fiberglass insulating tape. I did that in '12 and have not had any trouble since. I do check them on occasion, but the added insulation has held up well.

Further, if that was the source of the trouble, turning off the switch on the right handle bar will solve the fuse issue if you're on the road. I speak from personal experience on this! I also bought a couple spare bulbs and prepared them for when needed. I'm still using the Hella lights.
