So I have some great prices on '17 V9 Bobber, '17 Stelvio, '16 Capornard Rallye (brand new left over) love all 3. So let the debate begin! All ideas and thoughts welcome....

Cruiser or adventure.  Based on where you live, opportunity to ride off-road.   A lot of heat where you live so a smaller engine and no wind protection would be more comfortable.

You hear correctly. They are an absolute bastard to do anything to. Even changing the oil filter requires removing a whole host of crap to move the ABS pump forward to access the filter.

Also, while they are wickedly quick and very comfortable they have about as much character as a bowl of unsweetened rice pudding. One of the most boring motorcycles I've ever ridden!

What do you do with your bike? The V9 and Stelvio can both do whatever you want, but for daily commuting, the V9 might be better simply because it is smaller/lower/lighter. The Stelvio is a fantastic bike for travel. Comfortable and compliant, but being tall, it is a bit more to get on and off of. But, you can get a lot of groceries in those panniers.

As I said, either is very capable, so ask yourself what you want to do with it. I know nothing about the Capo, so I'll leave that to others, but from the previous responses, I would already have that ruled out.

Sorry to hear of your V9 being totaled, I hope that you have no lasting injuries.

Wow, tough question.     My answer would be both, depending on your financial situation, and how much room you have to park them indoors.

Both bikes have different, though, overlapping missions.    If you think you might want to ride off road, but, like the smaller, lighter V9, buy a V9 and a 250cc dual sport such as the WR250R, KLX250S, or CRF250L.   You can likely get both for the price of a Stelvio, and the 250cc dual sport will be way easier to handle off road than the Stelvio.  The V9 can cover the rest of the riding duties.   I downsized my dual sport bike from a 430# 650cc BMW F650GS Dakar to a Yamaha WR250R (280#), and couldn't be happier with the decision.   It'll do 75 MPH if I need to do a short section of highway to get to the trails.   The BMW was suitable for all-day highway travel, though, it was a heavy pig to pick up if you dropped it off road.   I don't even want to think about picking up a nearly 600# Stelvio.

Keep in mind that "off-road" is a large continuum.   If you're just looking at riding improve gravel roads, the Stelvio would be just fine for that, esp. if you're wanting to do rides that mix longer miles of high-speed paved roads with gravel roads.   I've done some gravel miles on the similar-sized R1200GS, and it's a great bike for that mission.   My F650GS was great for that mission as well.   If you want to venture off onto the rougher single track, then that is where a 250cc dual sport is a much better tool for the job.

Another scenario, if the Vespas that Jeff O. mentioned above seem like something you might like, that might be a great way to have a small bike for local rides and errands to compliment a Stelvio.    Definitely get the 250 or 300 (280cc) though.   You can pick up a nice low-miles GTS250ie for $2,500-$3,000 nowadays.  Asking prices on the  GTS300ie tend to be higher, like $3,500-$4,000.   Aside from the 2015 and new models having ABS, the 250 and the 300  are the same bike, just a slightly larger, 280cc in the 300, vs 249cc in the 250.    HP rating is the same, the 300 makes that HP at a slightly lower RPM, and has slightly more torque.   I've not ridden a 300 to compare to my 250, so, I can't say if it is a noticeable difference or not.

With larger diameter wheels and a more powerful motor, the Piaggio BV350 ABS is a scooter that rides a little more like a motorcycle. They're even capable of touring;my father-in-law rode his BV500 from New Orleans to Denver with no problems at all...

I have v7III racer. Trying to decide on a traveling bike. Going to sell my Hypermotard 1100S as well. Loved the Bobber just not sure. Two 1000 mile trips were good. But the ADV bikes....

Based on your last response, I would then suggest the Stelvio. I don;t think you will regret it one bit and you will be getting something that is going to go bye bye in the line up. By all accounts, it is truly the evolution of the Quota, and then some. I like mine and I have no plans of it leaving my care.

You shouldn’t have any issues, then. Slight chance of startus interruptus. But you already know about that. Swing arm and shock linkages probably need greasing. That’s it.
