Center stand option for scrambler V7ii
« on: October 28, 2017, 07:22:49 PM »
What center stand options are out there?  Has anybody installed the one from Hepco Becker?  How is the fit?  Does it distroy the look of the bike?  Sorry for the many questions.

A mate with a V7 II Special found the H&B centrestand a better fit than the OEM, FWIW.

I put one on a V7III, was real nice and adjustable for height to stay clear of exhaust on the Special. If you pre-loosen the frame bolts it slides in nicely, the old bar slides right out. Lube up pivot bar & spacer.

I also have a Hepco-Becker on my V7 III, works great. Easy to get up or down. Also, use original sidestand, did not need to get Euro style as others have mentioned.

I have the HB on my Stornello. It went on easy. The dealer swapped in the Euro stand for the US stand, although as others have noted, that is needed for the OEM but not the HB. My one gripe is that the foot deployment arm sticks out about 3 inches further than you would like as there is no left muffler. A welder friend is going to cut a piece out over the winter when I'm not riding.

Does anybody have a picture of the stand retracted?  I am curious to find out how much the step extension protrudes on the left side.  Does it meet the terra firma during aggressive left lean?

......  Does it meet the terra firma during aggressive left lean?

It has been known to happen on the V7C, when taking a tight corner badly - so try to avoid deep dipping on the tight stuff. Encourages one to ride smoother. I have scraped mine a few times, but never far enough over to lift the rear wheel.

The stand's tang is designed to accommodate a muffler. On the Stornello, I'd think there would be an aesthetic incentive to modify it somewhat. That wouldn't hurt the clearance either.
