I used a good fine tipped hobby brush and white one shot paint.  I encased it all in a clear lacquer auto spray paint.... that did lift if gas hit it.

Hi steven c , The proper way to repair that would depend on the quality of the bike. Just a touch up for a daily rider or a better repair for a show bike. You need to get the ragged edges knocked down or they'll show through. Carefully masking off all but the stripe and wet sanding with some 600 grit will give you a good starting point to re-stripe with a brush or machine. High quality striping enamel (One Shot) won't lift from fuel spillage and can be compounded out to match the surrounding area after drying properly. My $.02  Good Luck.

I would like to touch it up but matching the white would be an issue. It's not a show bike, with original paint, I like the fact the someone at the Guzzi plant hand striped the tank and would hate to loss that.

An alternative would be to talk to a sign painter in your area and tell them you will do all the prep work and if they could match the color and do the touch up. It's  a long shot to find a old time sign painter but there's still some out there.

That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.
