Giving Thanks.
« on: November 23, 2017, 07:16:34 AM »
I am thankful every day for my beautiful children, whos love, and comic relief keeps me on an even keel.  I'm also thankful for my extremely patient, and supportive husband.  Over the last 30 years, he took this damaged bird, afraid of life and healed her wings so she could fly again.

I am thankful for my stepfather, who still wanted to be my dad after my mom passed away, Thanksgiving weekend '08 at 59.  Pancreatic cancer took him just after his 62nd birthday in '14, but he loved me with all his heart.  I'm so grateful to have had him in my life.

I would also like to express my gratitude for all the support WG has given me over these past few months.  I'm am very blessed to have found a group of welcoming, knowledgeable, funny people who are as kind as they are cool.

Ride on~ :bike-037:

I am thankful for all my family and friends who have put up with my crap. I am thankful to have lived long enough to see grandchildren, 3 all wonderful. Although I don't know any of you personally, I am thankful for the good hearted banter.
Lastly, being a Vet that spent holiday's away, give a thought to those serving and away from home ,family, and friends. May God watch over you and bring you home safe. Amen

Over the last two years I lost my mom and dad, my mother-in-law, and my cherished Fox Terrier, Sandman. Ive spent the last ten months settling my parents estate and (along with my wife and my cousin) caring for my sister-in-law who recently had a second surgery for brain cancer. I was feeling pretty despaired and thought a great deal about the fact that I have a whole lot less years ahead than years behind.

On a whim, my wife, my cousin, and I decided to take a road trip to distribute cool stuff from my parents home. Over sixteen days we visited friends and kin in Austin and Tyler, TX, Albuquerque and Raton, NM, Lewiston, ID, and Loveland and Longmont, CO. I saw my daughter, several lifelong friends, grandkids, cousins, in-laws, aunts and uncles. The affect it had on me was extraordinary. I suddenly realized how lucky I was...how thankful I should be. My entire attitude turned about. I have become rejuvenated emotionally and now feel like every moment has a particular goodness about it.

I suppose that there is both good and bad to be found in any given life.  Im thankful that I was able to find the good...

@ Sheepdog, I understand completely!  The year my mother died, death and illness stalked our families.  I lost my mom, grandmother, grandfather, 2 uncles, and 2 aunts suffered devastating health issues.  The year my dad went was almost as bad, but friends and family helped me through.  We are truly blessed.
