Thanks to Sarah (Greer) I got onto some stuff, makes all the metalwork dissappear
Light cheap and put the bags low and forward, done and dusted testing, works
About to make some more, will post pix if anyone interested

Givi's have worked fine for me, waterproof and they just need to be tied down in a couple of places.

Throwovers weren't really what I meant, exactly because of this "they just" sometimes doesn't happen, permanently fixed is much easier for the old and forgetful (or the young & stupid)
But for fly and ride or occasional use they have their place
So I made a pair that went on my V65 and I had to tie them down
Once we used to tie to shock but inevitably bag wears on shock, shock looks old, bag gets hole,buy new bags
This rough as guts but works, hole at bottom to tie bags to, can't go up or down, you can see I did cheat a bit, mounted it to grab rail too, but front is strap so it can travel forward or back, pillion or no pillion.
Still need to be tied down or they flap like wings unloaded !!!




This is all 3mm poly sheet , HDPE, I think, can't find invoice (see forgetful old man)
I made twp pieces for each side then, todays one in next post, 4mm, one piece

So many small differences between models I can;t give dimensions for all, best made on actual bike
In this case I know where exhaust, rack etc etc will live so I'll start here

Offer bag up, as low and forward as you can get away with, Charlie & Ewan like all their weight up high and wide but even getting on the bike much easier my way, let alone riding it.
Angled bags best for pillion legroom obviously but same polyboard will keep any shape off shock
Jigsaw , drill and heat gun all you need, but turning some spacers up makes it neat, will get some round of this stuff soon, maybe not quite as pretty as alloy but won't corrode
Here's my bike with alloy flat bars & spacers, poly board at bottom changed all, cannot rub

Easy way for anyone, flat sheet with spacers to keep away from shock

But I like the sets, bend with heat, give it even more strength, then get rid of excess

Mounted my old bags cos it's kin hot here and I need a few bolts n stuff too


All you need is clearance, best to mount bags to bottom of board too, stop the flap

Spot the difference, new ones my best yet, roo lids with magnet close, more pix mounted soon

Did Givi supply something to cover shock spring that you tie to ?
Shocks with shrouds easier but tying against bare spring will end in tears, moving spring rubbing on lightweight material is big friction, more load, the worse it gets.
Exactly the point of the polyboard but inner tube or leather band around spring will help.

ok got a roundtuit

Left side needs a little more set in it for dog leg of swinging arm, not applicable loops of pre LM4 Tonti, only have old SB but guess they did same when they made Breva and kept dog leg thereafter ?
I trimmed it down a bit from before, no point in having anything there that doesn't do anything


Maybe this makes whole point simpler, bag comes off with 3 bolts, rear frame & shock mount are the load bearers, polyboard bolts to pillion peg / exhaust mount.


For throw overs better to take the polyboard right up to shock mount or bag will rub on top of shock but for bolt on just keep top of bag away with spacer (see earlier pic with alloy spacers)
Inside the bag use chicago scows for board mount

And mushroom head for mounting bolts

This saves wasting any cargo space and avoids sharp edges

Did I say light ?
Didn't bother weighing the board but complete pannier with hardware was 1300g , well under 3lbs. Most metal frames alone will top that.

Hope that helps someone, I only heard of this board ( cutting board for kitchen use) cos Sarah (Greer) used it on her Ducati and told world, passing it on, for twinshock bikes it's a doddle and keeps bags safely away from shocks.
This not only for my tricky leather ones, will work on any el cheapo leather or fabric bags, even the old cut down plastic fuel container that was aussie staple years ago, not my style but definitely cheap . Mine are not !!!
