Ernie Adams & his Dwarfs!
« on: January 07, 2018, 10:02:35 AM »
We went on a ride, with a local Meet-up group yesterday, to the Ernie Adams Dwarf Car Museum.  I've included a link to his website if you're interested in reading about who is behind these beautiful little gems.

What a VERY odd and expensive hobby to take up!

Ernie built most of these himself, and the craftsmanship is astonishing!  Originally, he used motorcycle engines, the first being a Honda 350cc.

I'm disappointed.  I thought "Ernie" was code for "Pete" and you'd found the secret porn site.

Good find!

I was studying my atlas at a gas stop in Kentucky one afternoon when a guy engaged me with the usual comments about using paper maps and about the trike.  I explained the trike and my preference for old-school navigation and he showed me some interesting routes.  Then he invited me home for dinner with the family, on account of my old-school interests.  The family was a wife, two good dogs, and a shed full of Model T's in various stages of restoration and modification.  One was pristine and belonged to his grandfather.  I spent several hours in the shed looking them over and helped him with a few 3-handed tasks while his wife shuttled between the house and shed with dinner.  Then she got in on some engine benchwork and we all puttered on Model T's and ate steaks and mac&cheese.  It was a fun afternoon.

You caught me!  I remembered that spicy thread, and thought I was being sly. :thumb:  Alas, I think most were disappointed to discover a less than spicy post.  Ah well, it was a fun day, and my first time riding a dirt road.  I was happy not to dump Anni in front of 50 strangers.
