Any tips for installing Helibars on a Breva 1100?
« on: February 11, 2018, 10:40:28 AM »
I just scored a used set of Helibars, no instructions included of course, but it can't be too complicated.  I have searched but...Any of you have any tips that have done the install on a Breva 1100? I didn't think I needed bars closer to me with my long trunk and orangutan arms but with my nerve issues in my back and leg, I thought they are worth a try.

Helibars don't work on a Breva.  I'll save you the grief by allowing you to send them to me for proper disposal.  You'll thank me later.   :whip2:

I don't own a Breva, mine's a Norge but think would be the same.
I can't recall from memory and it's too far to go outside, but I think there's a bolt that comes up from underneath as well as the ones that you can see from above.
I might be thinking of my Triumph Sprint ST 1050, I'm sorta getting to that age.
But IRREGARDLESS...
Do check before you grab the pinch bar and start tying to lever them off with one bolt still holding underneath.

I found the following out fitting them to my B11

a) look into extended brake hoses - you will definitely need them if you have a non ABS bike
b) carefully "gain" as much slack as you can for all the other hoses and cables. If you don't you'll tear the clutch switch apart - ask me how I know
It went back together, but I found a replacement that isn't from MG if you forget  :thumb:
c) put the bars on loose and twist them all the way forward before you do up the bolts.
d) even if you do "c" above you might need to file a touch off the bottom corner to stop them touching the tank

Its not that bad - just needs a bit of finessing and if you can't do that you shouldn't run a Guzzi

Give me a shout if you get stuck.
