face it, you screwed up and you'll hate it. its not a proper motorbike and all the cats with Japanese sport bikes will tease you cruelly. I don't live far from you and I'm willing to help you out and take it off your hands. Ill even come and get it for you, Id hate to see you mistreated.

Have to say that Yausa is the best.  I've gotten Battery Plus knock offs. When battery is dead, I bring the old one and get the same size.

Thanks, that is the one I'm going for.

When you first turn the key on you should hear the pump start and run for a couple of seconds to prime the system, if not it's not going to fire
There is an interlock with Neutral or the stand out and have to hold the clutch in for it to crank.

Good Luck

Well decided to progress with caution, dropped the sump and found some very thin metal pieces. I really don't know Guzzi well enough and have other projects I am focused on. Open to offers, great opportunity for low mileage one owner V11 thats never been down, make me an offer. Dean in Texas, 830-336-4153

I'm clueless (my normal condition) as to what that is.. but thanks for giving fair warning. I might be a player if nobody else wants a crack at it.

Aw, that's too bad, but good for you for checking first.  Smart.  Given the very reasonable price you paid, I think you should still come out alright.  If I were in the market for another V11, I would have serious interest.

I agree, it would be helpful to understand the size of the metal objects in order to be able to determine the source.

For those in the know, wouldn't it be ironic if this turned out to be remnants of a hose clamp from the oil filter?

Best of luck with the sale.

They look like melted shards of big end shell to me. Unfortunately common enough if the oil level has been allowed to get a bit low and no sloppage sheet is fitted.

Are big end shells magnetic?

Guzzis currently use tri metal bearings that have a steel back so it may well be that some of the backing has got spat out and would be magnetic.

You might consider getting a "Roper Plate" once you get it up and going.

Sorry to see the problem.

If it’s still turning over the crank will probably be salvageable. Although Guzzi stopped offering oversized bearings for the V11’s since the journal dimensions are identical too the Cali’s which do have oversizes you can use them. You loose the nitriding which is a shame but it’s cheaper than a new crank.

Go down to second undersize, get the rods closed and ground for two thou clearance, fit a sloppage sheet and bingo! Ready to rock and roll.

You won’t know for sure how bad the damage is until it’s all apart but as long as the crank still spins it’s probably salvageable. Flip the coin and hope. :thumb:
