Mommas bike needs love
« on: February 10, 2018, 01:08:54 PM »
After only 110,000 miles, youd think things like fork seals, valve cover gaskets, heads needing re-torqued, and redoing throttle bodies could wait another 90,000 miles before needing done.

Guess not. Here goes :-)

I'm sure you know what you are doing, BUT that concrete block is not oriented for maximum strength...the hole needs to be up/down not side/side...those things are known for collapsing at the worst possible time...

True, but I wouldn't worry too much.

It's not supporting the weight of the bike, it's just assisting the center stand in balancing.   :thumb:

Just a little support assistant to the center stand. She’s not going anywhere.

Kind of at a stand still with the fork seals. Turns out one of the lower fork bushings don't look so good.  Tried putting the lower fork back on after replacing the seal and it wouldn't budge on the upper at all. So, I had to order some new bushings.

On to the heads...tomorrow.

Sounds like you may be reaching the point of diminishing returns.  Just buy her dream bike for Valentine’s day and be done with it.

Here she is, all done.  Here's what all was done in the last few weeks, usually just Saturdays though.  Now this bike looks and runs like new again with only 110,000 miles.  Momma's going to be a terror on these crooked highways again.

Fork and dusts seals / oil replaced. Installed gaiters to protect.
New brakes all the way around
New fluids and filters replaced everywhere
Heads torqued
Valves set
New gaskets
100% cleaning and application of topcoat. All aluminum polished to mirror shine.
Fast idle cable replaced with new arm
Throttle bodies synched and cleaned
TPS adjusted
K&N's installed
Beetle performance map installed
New tires

Staying tuned.....might be on some off-brand steed.

Thought I was way ahead of the game given how easy the tank went back on the V11. Right now not getting any starter motor current draw. Fuel pump triggers at key on, all indicators work, run switch functional and correctly positioned..yada... yada. Doing my internet research tonight to take another wack at it in the AM....
