Kinda sad that the business end of movie making caused a rift between Fonda and Hopper that was never resolved . Fonda tried to heal the wound , but apparently Hopper was a stubborn character .

I did get a chuckle the first time seeing those hippies throwing seeds in the desert.

But I'll never forget Nicholson: "Do you mean marijuana?"

One more bit of trivia.  I really hated Billy jack.  But the guy that made it, Tom Laughlin, decided to make extra copies of the movie so that every theater could show the movie on opening day.  Until that time, copies were limited and many theaters had to wait and schedule a copy that was used and worn.

So BJ changed the entire industry by introducing the blockbuster release which probably lead to multiplex movie complex.

QUOTEAs an aside , the movie started filming in New Orleans in the Winter , and the crew traveled West during production , but in editing the trip started in California and ended up in the deep South .

Regarding the Southwest, many of the riding scenes were filmed right outside of Flagstaff, AZ along historic Route 66. :thumb:

To get even more of the backstory of Easy Rider, one should look up Cliff Vaugh, the original builder of the movie bikes.  Cliff was a civil rights activist and chopper builder in LA among his other credits.  The ending in the movie is loosely based on the reaction he got "freedom riding" a chopped Harley Sportster in the Deep South with a white woman as a passenger.

Dennis Hopper....in the original True Grit he was  killed off early, but I still channel him from Apocalypse Now as a combat fotographer

Many of those scenes were filmed in and around Cave Creek / Carefree, AZ back in the day.  Strange movie indeed....
