New Royal Enfield

Hey guys, just saw a picture of the new Royal Enfield 500cc one lung thumper. It's not my cup of tea but looks like maybe a nice little commuter for those of us who like something few have and the only one like it at a rally or motorcycle gathering.

They do the same as Guzzi with the V7. One bike, several incarnations. And at least here in Germany they are really expensive! Between 5000 and 6500 Euros! A Himalayan costs about 4500. Talk about fashion.

a slow, overpriced piece of nostalgia.
Personally, owning a couple of enfields and a fleet of guzzi's, they both have their attraction.
If you want value for money, get a honda , or even better, get a 10 year old BMW K100 ( you cant give those away over here)

I have not kept up with the marque for a few years but it look like they now have a disc rear brake.

My 2012 C5 Bullet was a hoot to ride.

I love them. I think the Enfield is one of the prettiest standard bikes out there... it just looks like "a motorcycle" to me.

I'd love one. I won't pay retail for it, and honestly won't pay standard used market prices either... but if I come across one for a song, it's coming home with me. Something about them speaks to the romance of motorcycles for me. They seem like the perfect bike for putt'in down country roads.

900,000 Enfield buyers a year can't be wrong? No, I don't understand the attraction that creates that volume, I suspect it's an Indian/colonial legacy thing.

Once the new twins are out in the market place later this year, there's likely to be more than the usual number of singles available, though getting an Enfielder to spend money is generally like drawing teeth, so it may be a while. Good luck.

I'd say that after a Guzzi, the singles at least, feel a bit like a toy., at first. They are more manoeuvrable, still have loads of torque, gravel roads are less of a challenge, motorways more, easier in towns & cities, but can easily be toured on, just not on fast highways. And there's nothing like the sound of a long stroke single ridden through a forest. Different strokes for different folks indeed, but lots of fun.

My sentiments exactly. I love their classic looks and just how basic they are. One of these days a green B5 Bullet will join the fleet.

My last motorcycle was a Suzuki Savage and singles are wonderful for putting around town, with shifting sort of when you remember as the torque covers many lapses.  I thought there were no Enfield Dealers in the USA.

They're selling them in places where people's needs, wants, and demands for features in a motorcycle is MUCH different from ours here!

 Yep , like an old airhead must be ridden in Germany to make complete sense , an Enfield need to be ridden either on back roads in the UK or in India to make sense .

Bet there are riders in India that can proficiently ride through traffic with five humans on board a single cyl. Enfield better than many two up Goldwing riders.
