Think he'll get his asking price?
« on: June 06, 2018, 01:17:25 PM »

I've bought, salvaged and sold a lot of SOHCs... this... this, even with the low mileage, is off the scale.

I particularly like this part...

I am selling this CB750F as is and not running
I do have a shop and can get it up and going but for extra cost..some people prefer the satisfaction of doing the work themselves.

$8886 in US Dollars.  Whether he gets that depends on whether somebody, somewhere wants an essentially new late model single cammer badly enough!  There's no question he'll have to get it running nicely to get a price anywhere near that amount.  This one sold for $2750 so maybe $5K for a 'new' one is more in the ball park?

I like the Euro/Canadian style rear fender extension, similar to a Yamaha 650 Seca, another Euro inspired model.

There is a very nice example of that exact Honda here in Muskogee that has about 5K miles on the odometer , ready to go , guessing if my bud that owns it ever decided to sell he would ask about $5K.
So yeah , too much for a non runner , especially of a later SOHC .

Can't fault the guy for going fishing, I guess. Best of luck to him.

I do know the later SOHCs are not in high demand though. The buyers of those things are usually people looking for a cheap bike to cut up.

Yup.   Fishing expedition, and he doesn't even have to have mosquito repellent or watch out for bears while he's doing it.

On the other hand, all he needs is ONE besotted fanatic .... !

The sad thing is that it wouldn't really take much to make it run.  Most likely it only needs a battery and a carb freshening.  $200 in parts, and a day of work.  I guess he just can't afford it for the paltry price.  I have the same bike, bought it not running as I have a few Honda fours.  I paid $700 with 7k miles, broken side covers and mild storage rash.

Actually, I think the old SOHC's are more valuable than the later DOHC's. He's dreaming so hard I'm surprised ICE hasn't come looking for him.

SOHCs in general ARE more desirable than the DOHC, for sure. But this is out to lunch.
