For Newport Beach Calif a $9500 asking price is crazily a pretty decent deal.  Forget eBay, slap on a for sale sign, park it on PCH. Bingo, sold.

Agreed, looks butt high and dropped at the forks. The frame has a 1:12 look to it.
Foot peg placement doesn't match the upper body lean forced by the bars.
... and yeah, they did a far better job than my critical self could do.

Wouldn't a project like that with a complete engine rebuild have a pair of, uh...more "sporty" carbs?

I agree. It is not detailed like you would think a complete rebuild would have (look at the crap on the carbs). I like the rake front to back, not sure about that rear shock set-up.
I also agree, the footpegs need rearsets.

Ah Jim that is not the first time you have noticed  sans air filters on a bike for sale. Good eyes.

Define re-build? new bearings? Rings? pressure wash and new gaskets? what kind of engine work is a 15,000 mile sp1000 motor going to need unless it was seriously abused anyway? I notice the cycle garden receipts are in the back.
If you have the motor apart, why not upgrade the lawnmower cam to something hotter?

I'm not keen on the frame angle, prefer the Tonti horizontal top rail, and conventional twin shocks really suit a cafe racer much better.
When you look at the shop labor fees it explains why California bikes cost more!

Looks to me like they have changed the rear tube of the frame triangle, looks funny, also what's up with that monoshock conversion, doesn't look like a good way to mount the shock, or the way the shock is mounted to the swing arm really. I would try to get some tubes directly in a straight line from the shock eye to the rear drive. The way it is made is just an exercise in trying to bend the bracket against the swingarm. If that one can sell for that price wonder what mine would bring in?
