It's not just Penrite though Muzz. I can go into Repco, Motor Spares, even the execrable Supercheap Auto and they have aisles and aisles of oils in all sorts of viscosities and additive packages from numerous suppliers. Castor, Mobil, Motul, on and on it goes. I'm about to nip into town to pick up some bearings, I might just go into a couple of these emporia and snap a few pics.

Interesting , just rode down to an Advance Auto Parts store and walked thru their oil aisle . 80 W 140 gear oil , with and WO/ moly , at least two brands , and at least 5 brands of oil in 10 W 60 . This in a town in the hinterlands of Oklahoma . No idea where some of you guys live that the parts houses aren't carrying these oils .

OK,you wanted pics? These are from Supercheap Auto in Fyshwick. Supercheap is the shitiest of the shitty junker parts houses, stuffed to the gunwales with horrid Chinese crap and stuff knocked out by the Veribendi company in Taiwan. Even they can stock oil!

Right next door there is a big branch of Repco which has a similar, if not slightly more extensive, selection of brown slippery stuff! I can’t believe your shops are so awful. You must be going to the wrong shops!

Supercheap here don't stock m/cycle oil filters or gear oil with moly.. Other than that, looks pretty similar.

The modern bikes don’t need moly in the bevelbox but if people want it just add a splash of assembly lube in with whatever oil you use. Personally I haven’t used moly additives for twenty years or more.

All the bikes we service get 75/90 in gearbox and final drive apart from smallblocks which get 85/140 in the bevelbox. Haven’t had a failure yet. Modern synthetic lubricants are good.

I am using the 75/90 synthetic in the box after the first failure. Dino 85/140 in the back with moly (seeing I have it). With pissall in the diff a bottle of oil  lasts a long time.

I must admit that until Supercheap decided to major on the Penrite (they do stock all the others) the 10/60 was sometimes a bit tricky to get off the shelf. It's there all the time now. :thumb: In fact, not long ago they had a 25% off day so I went to grab another bottle and the 10/60 was on special any way. Double bonus. :thumb:

Thanks for the photos, Pete.

You mentioned the Veribendi Company in Taiwan.  I thought they were now a wholly owned subsidiary of the Lee Kee Shipyards.

Correct. They were, but they in turn were recently acquired by the Stu Fittup Corporation. This company has it's sticky fingers in many endevours.

I thought they made nuts and bolts. :undecided: Some of the ones I have bought were made by the firm Ces Poole and Grot Ltd. Absolute sh*t they were.
