"They were contemporary to Honda but cost more because they were higher quality"    . Interesting sort of lie told in an ad , hope no one actually believes this particular prevarication .

That engine would look really sweet mounted up front in a little backroad scrambler go-kart.
Old enough to say I've done it, young enough to do it again.

Really interesting history of the company here: http://www.marusholilac.com/ml2.htm

Founder Ito began as an apprentice in Soichiro Honda's auto repair shop 1930 to 1935. After bankruptcy in 1961 he became a subcontractor to Honda. Later revived Marusho and built an opposed twin that didn't violate BMW patents.  Last bikes built 1966.

What was so awful about it? I think it looks period-cool. If I had throw-away money, I'd buy it, and that no doubt is the kinda guy who WILL buy it.

Most of the issues stemmed from really poor materials employed in construction . That , and not great welding .

I owned a shed full of them for a while. They really were unspeakably horrid. I’ll give you a short run down of some of their multitude of deficiencies in a bit but I’ve got to go to work.
