V7 High beam bulb. Specs?

Sorry, bulb burned out on the way to town, and I got pulled over for "no headlight".

I'm at work, and manual is at home, anyone give me the specs on the high beam bulb so I can pick one up at lunch?

High and low are one bulb, which looks to be a regular H4 type.

Alright then... what's the little bulb at the bottom that comes on when you turn in highbeam, them? I've got lowbeam, but when I switch on highbeam, it all goes out.

All of my Guzzis have a small 'city light' . It is a small bulb that always comes on in the headlight. You generally do not notice it unless the bulb burns out. It goes back to a time when you could actually turn the headlight off. That small bulb would remain on all the time.

So your headlight bulb is still likely burned out.

Back to the little bulb. Why is it only on with the highbeam? My bike, wife's bike.. it comes on with the highbeam switch, off at low beam.

And the so-called daylight running light is a standard 5W - even pins - I have replaced one of those once. The tail light blows almost as often as the headlight, though not usually at the same time - it's a 5/21W, but with offset pins - check that one regularly, they blow without you noticing while your back is turned.

My little daylight running light goes on with the ignition, and stays on with both hi & lo, on both the 2TB & the 1TB. At least, I thought so - I will double check.

Are you certain it goes off? Mine are on 100% of the time with the key.

100%. When he pulled me over, and told me it was out, I checked my wife's bike as well... high beam = brighter bulb plus "running light", low beam... no running light.

I don't know How or Why they would do that, the running light is normally on with the tail-light
I suspect the running light is not grounded correctly, may be grounded to the headlight Low beam
That way the Tail light would be normal but the running light weird

Whoever said the smallblocks don't have character?

BTW the workshop manual says Halogen 55/60 WH4

My V7 Stone (2013) still has the first (Philips) H4 bulb working. After 5 years I thought about using a new one for security reasons. And a brighter light would be nice. So I ordered the bike - versions Night Breaker from Osram and Extreme Vision from Philips. Both low-beam parts lasted for about 20 min, then they blew! I then built in an old (unused) car - H4 from Osram and ordered the Philips Vision Moto. The Osram now works for weeks, the Philips has a rating of 500 h.

So, from my experience: stay away from those "superbulbs", use a vibration-resistent standard type instead.

I double checked the running light in both V7s - the V7C's is on with ignition, and stays on with low & high beam. The V7S's doesn't go on at all - blown, needs replacing.

In my experience (ie anecdotal, not rigorous testing) the cheap $7.95 H4s appear to perform just as well as the $50 - $70 ones, and last longer - but then I've also wired in Denali LEDs to high beam. The defining character of a headlamp's performance is the reflector, and for a motorcycle the V7's are pretty decent. I still wish it were better - alongside cars at night, the cars seem to throw significantly more light at the road in front.
