Anyone want a Agostini cross-over? Never raced!
My most recent "it's always something" story.
My latest "exhaust" thread came about when I happened to mount the new Mivv carbon oval, only to notice that it was angled slightly to the rim/tire bead and got that area pretty toasty....blah, blah, blah.... Everything is good to go now...
Here's my confusing story of changing the exhaust system on the B11: (I should have stayed with one manufacturer for both pieces - sort of)
Wanted to liven up the sound of the B as I had done on the previous 06 Breva. On that bike, I had a Mistral cross-over and a Mistral Carbon Oval. It sounded nice enough and shaved off a decent amount of tonnage.
Forward to this new Breva. I was finally getting around to doing a cross-over and muffler for my new 06 Breva. Not jumping in with both feet right off the bat, I ordered a nice quality cross-over from Agostini. It is a fine piece of kit, very light, nice welding, sensor bung, and an easy install...it mated nicely with my original OEM muffler.
*I assumed the cross-over would add a noticabe amount of db's, but that big OEM bazooka out the back still kept her stiffled.A few weeks later after searching for muffler in carbon that complimented the looks of the black Breva, I decided on the Mivv Carbon Oval. It had good reviews, and ticked all the boxes. Carbon, light weight, and removable db killer.
So I remove the OEM muffler and try to install the Mivv. Wait a minute! Something's amiss. The Mivv uses a link pipe that is to be "slip fitted" snugly onto the cross-over tube and then held together by a spring pulled between the two pieces. Great idea...if both sides have the little spring loop to hook the spring to!!
The Ago does not have this little loop welded on for that purpose. Oddly enough the stock cat/con has the little wire "catch", so the Mivv will actually work on the stock cat/con. The Mivv link tube is also just a fraction too large for the Ago. (perfect for the stocker you remember).
One positive so far is that the Mivv and the OEM cat/con produce a wonderful sound.. The type of sound that makes me want to ride all the time, just so I can listen to it.
So the Agostini cross-over will get the little "spring catch" welded on in addition to some sort of reducer for the Mivv link pipe to fit more snugly over the trick looking cross-over. *Unless I can sell off the Agostini in short time (in classifieds....hint, hint). I'm going to leave things as is for now, but I'll have to do something with the Ago...too much moolah to leave sitting in a box.
