I was wondering
« on: March 09, 2019, 11:23:28 AM »
Whilst memory meandering enjoying my DeSarono my head actually snapped up when the question ocurred to me; after 53+ years riding, how many more miles would I have ridden if it wasn't for weather & my (34 year incredibaly wonderful) wife? Hmmm?

Well, in my case, once the kids got old enough for me to get back into motorcycles, my wife became the biggest supporter of motorcycle rides... especially once she got her own bike.

"Why don't we ride to XX instead of driving"
"We can get groceries in the saddlebags"

Yeah, in short, she has discovered why we all ride. I really do live a blessed life.

Just like in the story "The Monkey's Paw", be careful what you wish for, or wonder about!

On one of those rainy cold days when you stayed home ... IF it had been a little nicer and you went riding, that MIGHT have been the day that someone hit you from behind at a stoplight and you wouldn't even be here any more ....

Once again Texas Turnips wisdom  has told me " if you watch the weather channel, you'll never go anywhere".

All true. I wasn't clear. My wife has never stymied my riding. Just wanting to be fair time wise was my point.
At TWO in Ga 9 of us were by the fire. 2 of us were married.
Eleven of us were @ a BMW airhead tech day @ Lake Tahoe. I was the only one married.
Rare is the woman willing to share the amount of time & money a motorcyclist requires.
Friends nicknamed me Rainmaker in Va 1 year. Over 7,000 miles that summer IN the rain. 3 times over 400 hundred miles from home it started raining during the night & I was out of it when I pulled in the garage. The 3rd time I gave my tent & ground cloth to 3 little kids running around. Was sick of packing all the expanded wet gear.

My blessings are many. The question just hit me is all🤙😃🏍

How many more miles would I have ridden? All of them. I would have ridden all of those 'more' miles.
