My dad attended Warren Easton High School in New Orleans with Pete Fountain. He was a cool guy who loved music and New Orleans. The Spring before he passed, I saw him perform at the New Orleans Jazz Fest. He could barely stand, but he was laying it down just the same. As a child we had a great deal of jazz in our home. Even now, the album Whipped Cream by Al Hirt remains a formative influence in my love of music. If you like Dixieland or other older jazz styles, check out WWOZ on your computer. They program a great deal of our local music, but weekday mornings are reserved for vintage jazz.
