Canister removal 02 Stone. HELP!!
« on: September 08, 2018, 07:44:33 AM »
I'm up against the wall here.
In May I removed the tranny form my Stone. I have it all back together except the tank. I removed the canister during the process, now I don't know what to do with connections on the tank. Got the petcock one, but what about the rest?? I neglected to take any pictures along the way and I have CRS (can't remember shit).
Any info would be a great help.

Thanks in advance.

Earl

I'm away from the garage right now, but I will see if I can help you some when I get back there early this afternoon.  You can find the drain for the fuel cap by shooting a bit of WD-40 in that hole (6 o'clock position if sitting on the bike), and see where it comes out on the bottom, and iirc, the larger hose that attaches to the filter towards the front of the tank tunnel would be the one that attaches to your previous canister hose.  I think that leaves you with the vent hose if the bike should fall over.  Stay tuned!

May be some helpful info here, as well.  Blue underlined text links to pictures.

Earl, I ***think*** the '02 still has an external fuel pump. If so, then you will have a fuel return line attached to the pressure regulator under the very front of the tank, and two vent lines somewhere under there. Any vent lines can be vented to under the bike. The main fuel line off the petcock of course, and two electrical connections. One will have a red band on both ends and the other will not. One if for the low fuel light and the other is for the electric petcock.

If the bike has the internal pump/filter assembly, there may only be a fuel line and some vent lines.

Either way, any lines that used to go to the charcoal canister can simply be vented to atmosphere, along with the other line which already did that, which is the overflow line.

Sorry I missed you yesterday afternoon, but it looks like you've got it sorted.  As I have found, the search feature in the upper right corner on this forum can lead you to loads of helpful information.  Check it out next time you're in a pickle.   :thumb:
