electric center stand for my bergman ngc
« on: October 06, 2018, 07:00:21 AM »
Due to my bad right hip joint I cannot get the big Burg up.I made this using a $45 ebay 8 in stroke linear actuator. Fun project. The switch is in the glove box.It works great and is effortless but takes 25 sec to fully deploy. I am thinking of running the motor at 24 volts to double the speed. It is so smooth there is no fear of me losing control in my feeble state.

Neat idea!  Is the actuator electro/hydraulic, or a threaded shaft turned by the motor.  (Or neither.)

totally electric.lead screw turned by a motor with internal limit switches. The limits are not adjustable so it was a pain to make the geometry exactly  correct.

Great idea! Does the actuator have enough torque to get it over the hump or does it need a little assistance when weight gets on it?

That is cool, I might have to do that for the wife BMW scooter.

I've always thought something like that would be great for heavier bikes that don't have a center stand. Do you think it could lift a cruiser?  If not, it would still be a great way to throw some sparks at speed.  Nicely done!

You are way more skilled at making prototypes than I am then. You have done well.
