Just wondering, how often do you strip the UJ's on your bikes.

Mine is a smallblock Breva, which only has the one.

There's no slack in it Rolf.  Have just fitted another second hand gearbox in, and as I was putting the swing-arm back on I just wondered if they should have a bit of grease in them seeing they do have circlips in them.

It's all buttoned up now but if they should be serviced I thought I could do it at the next tire change.

More fresh grease is fine - but the job of doing it is terrible. Better to buy new when needed.

Thanks Rolf. Done them on cars before. You're right, about as much fun as having teeth pulled.

I agree with Rolf, I grease the driveline at tire changes and make sure the boot is ok but that's about it.

That's my usual as well.

My '85 LM1000 has ~80k on the joint with no detectable wear. While the bike was apart, I warmed the cardan up in the sun (too hot to touch barehanded) and let it cool in a bath of gear oil. The idea was to draw some lube in by vacuum as it cooled. Dunno if it did but I feel better about it.
