Anybody put a Truxton Flyscreen on their V7?
« on: December 19, 2018, 02:05:03 PM »
Trying to figure out my options for a small fairing/windscreen andd was looking at a knock off of the Triumph Thruxton one that got some meh reviews for needing a bit of work to be paintable.  Seems Triumph is selling the gold stripped flyscreen kits now for $75.  I was planning on having it painted to match my tank anyways.  Curious if anyone has put one on their V7 and if so would love to hear what you had to do to make it work and see some pics.

Looks a lot lie a Dart unit and it bolts right on. Personally,I like the V11 sport fairing. I have a Dart hanging on my pegboard in the garage I'd sell pretty cheap if you can stand it.

Honstly, not really something I like based on the darts I have seen.  To me I like one that goes around the headlight.

"Sport Fairing" sold by Harper's a few years ago.  Call Curtis to check on availability?

The Dart Martin get installed on my V7 Special for touring tasks, looks good in my eyes and keeps the wind blast off of my torso. When not touring I sometimes install the aluminum fly screen from a V7 III or do without any screen.  I sourced all the parts for the fly screen from a dealer and it wasn't cheap. Probably a waste of my money.

I find the combination of a flyscreen and lowish "superbars" work pretty well. It keeps the windblast to a dull roar and keeps one's jacket zipper in mostly still air. It is definitely a noticeable benefit. You'll have to be the judge as far as looks go, but I find they match the vibe of retro bikes.

Thanks guys, my Guzzi won't see too much riding that I need a screen for protection.  That's what my Tiger is for (in fact she did 360 miles today in 26-38 degree weather with the whole trip home in the rain.  For me it is purely assthetic that I want one.  I am far too old and beat up from a nasty incident with a drunk driver in a Honda to think I'll be able to survive riding a classic standard for long distances.  I will probably end up giving the Thruxton screen a shot when I save some more allowance.  :)
