Recall on 2017 V7III, Roamer and Bobber? Anyone?
« on: January 02, 2019, 09:45:29 AM »
Was checking database for a used snowmobile I'm thinking of buying and chanced upon this... anyone ever hear of this? (Sorry if it's been posted before, just found it interesting)

Old enough to say I've done it, young enough to do it again.

Yup.  I think that's about...a year?...old.  I believe they've just had the one recall; not too bad.

Do the V7's have an air injection system? I don't recall ever seeing one. Or is that only on the newer models?

It is a way around Euro-4 emissions.  Oh wait, I mean the way they comply with Euro-4 emissions.   :cheesy:

Interesting ... I have a 2017 V7 III and never got anything on this.  Not sure if that means my VIN is not affected or they are just bad at sending out recall notices??

I guess the issue is only in Canada.  Don't cross the border and you should be OK.

So Canada gets a different Secondary Air system from the US?

Kind of a strange recall ... a brake hose can rub against a what, plastic or rubber piece of emissions gear, and leak?

Wonder how many guys think "well, I might as well get them to do a service while I take it in for the recall"   (conspiracy theory )

Different government oversight.  Interesting the two meanings of that word oversight.  Use whichever one you think fits.

Sounds like a mandatory recall instead of voluntary if they aren't doing it in the states.

the later 2017 specials were done at the factory before shipping. Mine was and I think it was made in June.

It wasn’t just Canada. My ‘17 Roamer, bought in the U.S., had that recall done by the dealer at the same time it had the footpegs relocated. I suspect Vagrant is correct that bikes built later in the model year had it done at the factory.

I purchased my 2017 V7 III Special in July of 2017, the recall was done on mine at same time as PDI before I picked it up.

Bought my Roamer in the U.S. in July 2016 and had the work done at a dealer in my area.

What is this you speak of?  Is it obvious?  Owner requested or factory required?

Footpegs on the Roamer were sort of forward of the other small blocks.  Some people relocated them back for comfort.

The First batch of V9s, launched in Europe in 2016 and the U.S. in 2017, had the pegs mounted a few inches forward of where they are in the current models. Many reviewers and early buyers didn’t like it. For those who asked, the factory provided free kits to move them back. In my case, the dealer installed them before putting the bike in the showroom. Here’s an article mentioning the change.
