Have You Seen This Guzzi?
« on: March 11, 2019, 08:39:23 PM »
I was messaging with Dusty about the Cedar Vale rally and my Eldorado, which used to be my dad's.  He said that he may have met my dad, years ago at some point, so I sent him of picture of the bike, back when it was fully dressed and customized. He confirmed that he definitely saw it, back in the day, and suggested that I share the photo with the group, as it would start a good conversation. So...have you seen this Guzzi? Thoughts?

P.S. Sorry for the poor quality. It's a phone snapshot of an 20 year old photo.

I have seen it either at the KS rally years ago or at the Arkansas Nationals years ago. :thumb:

Unless that "Guzzi " light bar was mass produced, I saw that bike. Possibly in WV.  Nice rig.  :thumb:

We attended rallies in Kansas, Arkansas, and West Virginia, when I was younger. The light bar was a custom job made by another friend of his.

I remember that beast from "back in the day" Prolly Steve Walker's ARKY shindig. Those were great times, we had rallies pre interneck and we'd never even heard of the word "SNARKY"

Love seeing how many people recognize it. It was pretty unique, but I didn't expect so many people to remember it. John, those were good times. I was just a tyke, but those sometimes two week long road trips to see family and hit 2 or 3 rallies along the way are some of my best memories from growing up.

We probably stood in the same chow line together  We should meet up and ride some when the weather gets better. We could get Doug over in Pittsburg to join us too :thumb: There was talk about meeting up at the undercliff

As Dusty said, I'm planning on making it to Cedar Vale in May, so I'll definitely see you all, there. Althoug, Pittsburg is only an hour west of me, and I definitely wouldn't be opposed to a meetup and ride, before then.

Many have seen the Cal11 that is decked out the same way, only mine has the Harper big bags, rear padded floor boards and custom king/queen seat. This bike was a mile eater making the trip from Texas to Golden Valley, MN in record time.

It always got best of show at the generic rallies.

I sold 20 of my Guzzis but kept this one just for the memories. I parked it at 147 K to get a Cal111.

Sounds like a great bike! I knew that the light panels were made by someone my dad new in the Guzzi community, but didn't realize they went into production.

Those were the days I remember fondly Tex,  that was an amazing trip.  You should have been my brother in law!  I don't know anyone else that could have made that ride.  Tex rode up to Minnesota, picked up my sister and rode to the Oklahoma rally to surprise me for my birthday.  When I crawled out of the tent Friday (?)morning and saw her,  I dang near swallowed my dentures!  Tex bought a new Cal 2 after I bought one and had 100K on it before I had 50K on mine,  I thought I was a riding fool but Tex was twice that!
