But hey, not my bike.  Sometimes you have to go practical over form.

I am working on a set of attachments for a set of leather bags that I have sitting here on the shelf.  Stay tuned.
In the mean time, these are very functional.    .....and they're growing on me

A couple of things come to mind.

These were originally designed as top cases and (so they say) everyone started using them for side cases.  As such, they're a clamshell design, and there's no real handle on top, when mounted as side cases.  OK, so I can grab one of the strap loop thingys and the bottom of the case.  They're light.  So, I fashioned a nylon strap handle and ran it thru the tie-downs on the top-outer portion of the case.  Still, a handle on top would have been nice.  This may be an "improvement" opportunity.
 

The bike is approx. 37" wide with the cases installed.

Excellent lock sets.  Very robust.  Big, fat keys.

.......and that easy-on and easy-off design is just the snizzle.

It's funny you say that.  I was about to write that they would make good top cases.   

I've had clamshell side cases. V35s transferred to several bikes, OEM on the Concours 14, OEM on the Trophy SE, and to me clamshell cases require the internal bags to make them useful.  Then, you don't need a handle on the bag itself to be able to carry your belongings into the hotel room.

Like the bags! Still can't understand the 1 1/2 seat? The back half looks like an afterthought... too small for an average size passenger and too long as a solo seat.

I have a set of Dolomitis--they're ok, but I'd like them much better if they were top loading. I made a simple  handle that works well for transporting them. A set of Givi E22s might look good on the V9.

When it comes to touring it's not so much about looks which is simply a vanity issue, it's about practically and those babies will handle a weeks worth of duds easily. You can put the clean clothes on one side and transfer them to the other side when they get stinky😂

Nope.  Just take all the ratty underwear, and pitch it as I go !
Gotta have room for souvenirs and tshirts and stuff !

I love the 1 1/2 seat.  If you were a young guy you would understand.  The young lady has to press up against you and wrap her arms around you for a ride.  Sure, it is a distraction, but the best kind!

When riding solo you can slide around on the seat to change your pressure points and stretch you back out some.

We've been having one snow event after another, except that this weekend we had an ice storm.
If this keeps up, I'll have to just sit on it and have the wife operate a leaf blower.
 

I'll run the installed foot controls for now.  Who knows - I might like them.   The Dealer furnished the "Euro" set with the bike.  It's nice to have choices.

Helmets?  We rode in shorts, flip flops and the girls in bikinis.  Somehow we survived.

I can remember some of those girls getting the precise imprint of the muffler heat shield - on the inside of their thighs, right down to the imprint of the phillips-head screws.

When Kawasaki came out with their under the bike exhaust in '06 on the Ninja 650 I was so taken by the slender look and the lack of risk of burning that I was like "why hadn't anyone done this before now?"  I had to have one.  Then after 15000 miles I realized it was too small for me physically for longer rides and moved to the Versys 650 with the same exhaust design.  Other manufacturers followed and there have now been many variations on the under the bike exhaust.   

I keep looking at the shorter exhaust for my V7, but I hesitate because I know they will be louder to me even if they put out the same dB as the OEM.  Of course all of them are going to make more noise than OEM.

Edit: On topic content. I like those bags on the Roamer. They look slimmer and less bulbous from the rear, which is how a lot of bags used to look. I think they look better than shorter bags that stick way out.

Not surprising.  Usually someone else invents it and the Japanese perfect it.  This is what they have been doing for going on 60 years after we sent our best and brightest to help rebuild them after WWII.

Outside fork width = 10.125
Space between triple tube clamps = 7.25
