What models center stands will fit a 02 Cali stone?
« on: February 26, 2019, 06:02:39 AM »
Ive been shopping around for a center stand for my 02 cali stone metal, and im wondering what models will work on it. From reading posts, I see some say the ones all the way back to the 70's guzzis will work..  and also that the newer cali stands wont work on the old ones... but the older ones on the new ones.. [longer wheelbase..].  So Whats the call...  Ive seen some new ones listed for the stone, but dont really need to buy new, and the higher pricetag..[ok... im cheap...]  So what models will work for my bike? Thanks for any help.

I have the 2001 cal. spec. and installed a center stand from an 850T3. the rear tire was too wide for the stand to clear so I stuck a floor jack between  the legs on the center stand and made it wider. You should know that this stand will keep both wheels on the ground when deployed. It works just fine but could be an inch longer.

Thanks nice to hear. Do you know if the stock stand will lift the tire?

From the 98 EV (or maybe back to the cal3) on they should all fit.. if you use an older one you could weld a small plate to the bottom of each foot to raise the rear wheel off the ground.

The center stands on both my 02 and my friend's 96 will raise the rear wheel off the ground. In both cases a firm grasp of the pillion grab handle and a fair bit of effort are required to deploy. On the older ones with the larger deployment bar, it sticks out at an odd angle that makes it more difficult than it needs to be. I'd go for the later version if you can.

OK, cool thanks..  So im guessing any of the Cali III, EV, Stone, etc should be all pretty much the same then?
