NAPA oil filter for 98 EV?
« on: May 05, 2019, 11:59:12 AM »
Is there a cross over filter for the 98 tall oil filter? I want to change the oil but don't want to wait to order one.
Thanks

Don't know about NAPA filters but it is a Bosch 3330 or I have a Wix 51348 sitting here. It is for a Toyota Tundra w/ 4.7 motor
Got this info from Guzzi Tech school in Costa Mesa, CA..
Hope this helps

Not sure about Cali, but a NAPA Gold 1394 works in my V11 LM and Griso. Also in my former 2007 Norge.

Sorry, I meant to say 1348. 1394 works in my Buell XB9s.

There should be no issue with motorcycle-specific part numbers - but let me leave this public service announcement on automotive oil filters...... all of them that I know about have changed the end cap design from concave to convex, starting a couple years ago.
.
old design on left, new design on right
.
.

.
.
.

This may or may not affect a Moto Guzzi motorcycle but it certainly affects nearly all Yamaha and all of my Kawasaki and some others.
What happens is that the metal end cap in the center of the filter will bottom out on the oil filter boss before the gasket completely seals.

SO - be mindful when tightening up the filter - that it has the right "feel" and does not first bottom out on metal.
.
.
.

So the Mobil 1 is ok?

Next question - since filters aren't created equal, which are the best?

hahahahahahahaaaaa
oh stop it !

Seriously - pick a manufacturer, look up the part number for your application, and Viola !  you're set !

I like these, but there are many others

Or support your local dealer and buy a filter there.

What ever one you use, remove the sticker, or it will come off in the hot oil and end up covering the intake screen. Lucky for me it was at start up oil light kept frickering. Pulled pan and the sticker coverd allmost the hole screen. Bosch 95 call

I only buy filters with out a stick on label. Plenty of choices without.

It's easy to peel the sticker off the Mobil-1 M1-102.

All that will fit here.  https://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/FilterXRef.html

I was looking over the info at the site. The specs he lists for my EVT that uses HF551 per MG cycle is not listed on the reference site. Also, the Mobil M1-102 is listed in one section as having an anti-drain back valve and the next section it's listed as one without??
