My Norge Garage Door Opener Mount
« on: April 24, 2019, 08:35:35 AM »
Seems like my Norge is still working well after I added the roller tappets. I'm still waiting for something else to go wrong but I/m getting more confident in the bike as the miles add up. I had my garage door opener velcroed to the triple clamp but hated it there due to being hard to hit the button with gloves on and exposed to the rain. And not wanting to spend the money for the aftermarket systems I opted to design my own setup. I purchased a pair of windscreen adjuster buttons and used one of them to operate my opener. It looks stock and no more worries about weather theft or fumbling with the button.

That’s cool.
If anyone wants to do the same, I have the switch blocks I took off my ‘07 Norge with the up/down windscreen buttons.
Free to good home.

Where exactly is the garage door opener mounted...is the button physically pushing the door opener button, or electronically wired to it somehow?  Cool mod...I like it!

The opener is located on the left side of the fairing just under the light relay (velco to fairing). I soldered wire to the circuit board of the opener and ran it to the switch on the handlebar. I also added a quick connect plug to be able to remove the opener to change the battery or replace if it goes bad. I think I might add a LED light to show the opener is working when the button is pressed.

Since simplicity (on the surface) makes your mod so sweet, why add the light - seems the door opening or not opening will give you a good indication.

I did something similar. I opened up the plastic case to expose the cricut board to figure out how the push button was wired. Soldered on a red and a black wire then off to Radio shack for a momentary switch. When it was on my Ducati the button was in a small plastic trim piece with the opener zip tied to a frame member up and out of sight. Sold the Ducati and liek the setup so much I moved it over to another bike.

The addition of the light would only be to let me know if the battery is still good. But the door not opening will have the same result.

I did this on my Stelvio (the classic): https://flashtoopen.com/pages/motorcycle
Connected to my Aux lights, I flash the aux lights to open the door.

I just add transmitters to each bike, most to the high beam circuit. You can also have a button like the above to do the same thing.
