Route-66 Support Soon
« on: May 07, 2019, 06:34:24 PM »
No, not for us.  We just completed ours without a glitch.  I suspect the following people are going to need a little more help than they have anticipated.

Having taken 10.5 days on a full-dress Harley and not pussy footing around much at all, I had a good laugh when I read their 10 day anticipation.  Hope they haven't bought their return air tickets as yet!  In some of the western winds, they'll need full throttle to keep from going backwards.  I'm going to try and reach out to them directly to share what I just experienced.

Oh my RT66 on Fizzies  Unless the weather is perfect (not a chance) , doing 2,450 miles in 10 days is gonna be tough . Do they know they will need to take significant detours along the route , or get on interstate highways with 80 MPH traffic ?

So far, you know what I know.  I wrote to them via their contact page to share my recent experience.  I'll chime in here if they contact back.

When Dorcia and I did 66 on the Jack-All rig, there were times I was at full throttle in third gear for long periods.. (!) climbing in the mountains with a big head wind.

The article does say that they'll have a  "...support vehicle packed with fuel, spare parts, and whatever else is required ", so while their schedule looks over-ambitious, it wouldn't be too hard to load a couple of 49cc bikes into the van to make up for it.  I think they'll be fine; it should be fun.
