I do have to agree, I'm not a huge fan of the bags on the Heritage.
If they put cast alloy wheels and RK style bags (albeit, maybe slightly smaller to be to scale if the RK bags on't look right) on the Heritage, would you buy one?

I hear there's already a kit to do that with the RK bags.

I'd still require a second front disc.

But yeah I'd be sorely tempted.

That said there's nothing wrong with the RK currently and I can manage the wait fine. Check back in say 10 years.

OOOPS - you are, of course, correct sir, I WAS confusing that with my Objection to the Heritage! (which does sadly come with tubed spokes and even worse bags). While we're at it we can add a lack of driving lamps to the Sport Glide (though the Heritage has them).

When I look at the new softail lineup there is something about each and every bike that is a detractor for me purchasing and at the cost of those bikes it doesn't make economical sense to purchase than then make thousands of dollars to change.

IMO the Heritage needs tubeless tires to be a touring bike.  At least they have cruise control and the bags are now hard bags.
IMO the Sport Glide bags are very cheap looking as is the baby batwing.
IMO I love the 70s look of the Low Rider but feel too cramped with the mid controls
IMO I would buy a Slim S 114 in Army Green, and although I don't like tubes, it wouldn't venture too far from home or the trailer.
IMO the fat rear tire on the Fat Boy and Breakout are not good for the Tennessee twisties.  I could see owning a Fat Boy if I were a city block rider or lived in Oklahoma.
IMO the Street Bob with it's tube tires and tiny little speedo don't work for me.
IMO the Deluxe is cool looking but no more chrome polishing for me.  Tube tires and I think they dropped the cruise control.
IMO the Fat Bob is the best of the new Softails but it probably needs mid controls for sporty riding.
IMO the FXDR is over the top and looked kinda plasticy to me.

For the local roads where I live good handling bikes with enough suspension travel for exploring are probably best.

I get that list... though I wouldn't even look twice at most of the models. For me it's

Heritage - tubeless, better bags, dual discs, crash bars

Sport Glide - (I actually like the bags and could probably live with them) - dual discs, crash bars, floorboards

Fat Bob - mid-mounts or floorboards, add bags and a small shield

Of all those I'm really starting to think the Sport Glide could be the one.

But again, I REALLY have no need to get rid of my RK.

And well, I never thought I'd say this, but if Guzzi comes out with a Ambo on a smallblock platform holy crap, I might own THREE Guzzis at once.

Personally, I think the Heritage, Deluxe or even Low Rider would look good with adventure ammo can style panniers.  I like the Low Rider mag wheels (and Tach) it just needs a second disc brake up front.  That said the Road King is perfect.  I could just loose 100 pounds and switch to a mono shock...

It’s in the rules, or it should be, “no excessive Harley blabbering. “

IMO there are more similarities between the bikes than differences.  Of course less maintenance with the Harleys though.  Harley has dabbled in liquid cooling though.
