Where can you buy this fairing?
« on: May 15, 2019, 07:04:22 PM »
My cousin dumped his Jackal and busted this fairing. Anyone know where another can be purchased?

Thanks, T4

That’s the standard Touring fairing, for the California’s of mid to late 90’s early 2000’s, I briefly tried looking through Harpers, and MG but couldn’t find one in their catalog. I have 2 of them in good to excellent shape, with attaching hardware, sitting in boxes. If you want more info and pictures PM me. I might not be able to get back to you until Saturday though.

I don't have an extra but understand why he wants it replaced. Besides being functional, it looks a little weird, adding even more personality to the bulbbess california 1100. For the windshield part https://www.clearviewshields.com/motorcycle-windshield/moto-guzzi/touring-fairing-ev-stone-shields/

Question for the enlightened group. I have 2 sitting in boxes, with all the hardware and good to excellent shape including windshields  , I think I also have an extra taller windsheild to go with, since new windshield s are going for $ 150 approx, what would the whole fairing be worth, I can’t find any used through the bike breaker guys or on eBay MG and Harpers don’t show them in catalogs, at least that I can find. What are they worth what would you sell them for. What’s a fair price?
The original poster contacted me and wants one, and another member also contacted me inquiring about price. I know shipping is going to be expensive, help establish fair price.
Thanks

Huh???

He’s been riding the heck out of the bike since he picked it up from you Frank. Loves it!!  Says it could run circles around the R1200C he had.

He dumped it in the driveway. Called me in tears. Broke the fairing and the latch of the large Givi bag on the left side. Poor SOB. I feel for him.

Love that fairing! It's vile! A stunning example of non aerodynamic excresence that is so bloody ugly not even it's mother could love it!

Yup! My Cali has one! Adore it! Mine is a sort of horrid melena stool type colour. The whole bike looks like the designer was just putting the finishing touches to it and then had a combined rectal prolapse and psychotic episode!

They're rare.  Were OEM on the California EV Touring in the 2002-2004 time frame.

Hard to set a price on something so rare which it sold so intermittently.

I'd say at least the price of an H&H fairing.

I paid $125 to Speakers sometime in 08 for mine. It is  NOT  made for high speed. If you have an early EV it needs the bigger headlight to fill the hole. For that you need different supports. Too much, MY fix was make brackets out of steel and cut out the shell to fit in existing set-up. The stock headlight is flush w/fairing mine sticks through the hole a bit.

Ditch riding

Tony,

He can certainly just the other faring while looks for another. The Givi shouldn't be too hard to find a latch for.
I sent him a text today for the floor board rubbers.

I love riding behind that faring with the alteration I made...I cut about 3.5 inches off the bottom of the windshield and it suit me just fine :)

Glad to hear Mark is digging the bike...makes me happy!!

I’ve decided Fotoguzzi’s price of $300  + shipping  would be about right. I’ve contacted the OP and another member who contacted me, so they will get first options. The fairings have mounting hardware and windshields. Both are in good to excellent condition. If the interested members decline they will be put on the swap list soon.
I can take additional pictures if requested.

I know shipping is going to be expensive

.

I recently shipped a seat pan.
The UPS terminal wanted $58, and the UPS Store wanted $64

The U.S. Post Office charged $24.  It shipped from St Louis, to California on a Friday afternoon and arrived there on Monday.

I don't agree with that not made for high speed comment. I've had my EV with that fairing up to 114 mph GPS speed. Going through the rice paddies down in Arkansas on the way to Frank Smith's place in Louisiana.

I’ve talked to lots of Cali owners over the years at rallies who love this fairing, But I replaced both with  original classic Swannes that provide more hand and body protection and less buffeting. I’ve seen lots of modifications to the original to address these issues but I didn’t have the time or interest in that life time to go through the arduous quest for the holy grail to find nirvana.  Thus the Swannes.

What color are yours ?  It's hard to tell from the photos.

Also, can anyone speak to how effective the fairing is ?  I have a National Cycle Plexifaring 2 on my EV that works great, but I might consider on OEM shield if gets good reviews.....

I can see why he wants another  Guzzi touring fairing, they work very well, and the shape fits the California bikes real nice. I have one on my Cal II, that I made mounts for, and one on my Cali aluminum. They are made from ABS plastic and are easy to repair using abs "plumbing" glue. I bought this one damaged from a forum member, repaired it, and adapted it to the Cal II.
