Screen for V7iii
« on: June 14, 2019, 11:48:26 PM »
I'm looking for a screen for my V7 Special, anyone have a good one?

I was thinking a smaller one, not a barn door with chrome accessories to match the rest of the bike.

Thanks
Roy

The V7C came with the OEM screen. It put the air right at the visor on me, and it wasn't long before I removed it. Then, of course, I needed the rearsets - that works for me, I don't notice the wind any more. The Special came with a flyscreen that just covers the instruments (& rearsets). That I have found better.  If you end up getting a screen & don't like it, you can always cut it down. Angle grinders can be so useful.

I have the Dart Classic Flyscreen on my V7 (and my Griso).  I like it.  It deflects a few of the bugs and takes some of the wind pressure off at speed.  Dart is a very well made piece of kit - the fit and finish is first rate!   And it is great at keeping bug guts off the instrument pod!

As others have said, what works for one may not work for another. I found a Dart Marlin a little small at speed. I ended up with a Givi A34 (you have to get a mounting kit) and am very happy with it.

Where did you get the mounting kit? Was it generic or model specific

The Dart screens come complete, you see the price change when you select the bike model, it jumps from a bare screen with no hardware to a complete kit.

I've got a factory Sport Screen.  More than a dart, less than a barn door.

Hard to beat the Dart Piranha:

https://www.dartflyscreens.com/products/moto-guzzi-v7-piranha-flyscreen

I settled on this one
https://www.dartflyscreens.com/products/marlin-flyscreen?variant=6341973934107
When it arrives I will try it on my Griso as well.
Thank-you to all those who participated.

The Dart website is very easy to use I must say.

Roy the brackets for the V7 screen will not work very well for the Griso.  I can attest that the Dart for my Griso is another very well made piece of kit.  It looks like it came from the factory with it.

After a couple of weeks Dart will be sending you an email.  If you reply with a picture of the installation you will get a 10% discount for your Griso screen.

How much wind protection are you looking for?  I put on a Dart Marlin on my v7iii ... looks great, but seems to direct all the wind right into my helmet making it much louder than with no screen.  I put an MRA screen on my Griso and it is awesome ... twistedthrottle has a huge selection of those ... some are universal while some are "model specific" but I don't see why a SV-650 screen wouldn't work on a V7 for example.

So cool look, wee bit of wind protection from chest area, Dart screens can do that.
But for more wind protection I think the MRA screens or Givi's or National Cycle ones would be better.

Dave, I thought I would just knock up a couple of brackets for the Griso from aluminium, If the screen works then get another screen with it's own brackets.

Thanks, I will look up the MRA for the Griso. I saw the Givis, seem to be not much larger than the Dart

Do you have a model No for the MRA?

Thanks

I know a lot of guys like the Dart. I had one and didn't think it did much of anything. I got a Puig. Check it out. Gives much better protection than the Dart without being much bigger and it's about half the price. Had mine on for 14k now and have run over 100 mph and no problems

When travelling I mount a Dart MArlin, for daily riding I mount a V7 sport aluminum fly screen. The fly screen is a better choice for me during the hot and  humid SW Florida summers.

The Givi I got is 19.5 in from the top of the cutout for the headlight to the top of the screen. That's probably 6 in or so taller than the marlin

For the Griso, I got the MRA Vario Screen VNB Type "A" Universal Motorcycle Windshield.  Just rolls off the tongue doesn't it?

This is over double what the Dart costs, it should be good. $379

Still a lot cheaper than what the dealer wanted for the Guzzi one CAD$580 + Tax
