CL scams are getting more sophisticated, or this is a great deal

The following ad appeared on the North Jersey CL. Included a photo of of a nice smoke grey RS. Price is $900.
I was almost tempted to respond...

For Sale: 1981 BMW R100RS in great running condition. Needs nothing but a new owner. Selling because I don't get to ride it as much as I would like. Clean title in my name.

Bike has been fully serviced and is ready to go anywhere. Heads were overhauled by Ted Porter's Beemershop including new exhaust valves, guides and springs. When apart, the pistons got new rings and new pushrod tube seals were installed. Carbs were ultrasonically cleaned and rebuilt with new gaskets, o-rings, float needles, springs and screws. Tank was cleaned, new fuel lines, in-line filters and petcocks. New clutch and choke cables installed.

The bike has the following upgrades:
-Full Keihan stainless steel exhaust (headers, crossover tubes and mufflers)
-Stainless brake lines
-New smaller master cylinder for greater level feel and power (from 16mm to 14mm)
-Progressive fork springs
-LED headlight and taillight
-Thunderchild diode board with solid diode mounts
-Digital battery meter (I will include the original working analog meter)
-Toaster Tan upper triple clamp (original upper plate included)
-Long stem mirrors (see more than your elbows, originals included)
-Kathy's Journey Designs fairing pockets
-Smoked windscreen trimmed ~3 inches to eliminate wind buffetting
-Vented front lower fairing (original part included)

Includes:
-Newer Avon Roadrider tires
-Center stand
-Brown's side stand
-Krauser hard bags
-Original toolbox, tool kit and air pump
-Telefix fork brace (not currently installed)

Please note the mileage on the odometer is not correct. The original odometer stopped working while the previous owner had it. Actual mileage is believed to be around 50k.

Not a normal scam, unless the scammer just picked up the real ad with the real price and stuck his own price and contact information on it, hoping to score at least a deposit.   That's pretty common.

If so, he picked the wrong price, which just screams "SCAM!"

They just copy the entire original genuine ad and repot with their own contact info and  tempting price.  So all the info is legit except the seller info and the price, and the fact that there is no bike, just a scam.

Nice bike! Not a $9K example, more like 6 maybe.

What says 'scam' loudest to me is the fact the owner knows all the details yet is willing to give the bike away for little more than the cost of the exhaust.
