NGC - Freddie King - Damn!
« on: July 25, 2019, 07:29:22 PM »
I'm sure you blues aficionados are familiar with Freddie King.  I wasn't until now.  Was originally going to post the link to "Sweet Home Chicago"  until it was followed on You Tube by "Have You Ever Loved a Woman."

We used to hit the Chicago blues bars when we went to trade shows, but I don't remember hearing anything like Freddie King.

Here ya go!

I saw him play with Eric Clapton in Shreveport Louisiana in 1975 probably the best concert I ever saw right up there with the Rolling Stones also in 1975 at LSU

The guy was amazing!!!  Went from smooth as glass... to a raging inferno throughout almost all of his music...   gone way too soon...

His fierce attack on the strings were matched by his voice.  I saw him in 74 at Liberty hall in Houston from the front row.  Never forget it, don't expect to ever see anyone like it again.  Force of nature, I have always referred to him as the Earl Campbell of the Blues.  Run right over you.

PERFECT description.  And that Gold Top was a flame thrower in his hands for sure.
