While I’m playing with clutch parts...
« on: August 20, 2019, 09:54:46 PM »
Lemans 1, Incase I forget to mention what the bike is. Installed the longer throwout body and have a slight recess @ 1mm in the body with new clutch plates. What I happened to notice is that I have a lot of play at the clutch arm pivot pin. Seems the hole has enlarged a bit and the pin wobbles at least 1mm each direction inside cast hole, mostly in the upper casing. Should a make a bushing to reduce the play or get a oversized pin?  Or leave it alone?  Right now the adjusting bolt on the arm for the clutch rod is almost maxed out with the lock nut barely on
Thx again
Allen

I would suggest leaving it alone.  There are no forces to make the pin rotate, so it is going to settle in a position of maximum deflection and stay there.  Actually it is more common that people find the pin corroded into the casting and can't remove it.  Several have broken off the pivot mounts trying to drive the pin out.  If you tried to fix it you would have to be absolutely certain about squareness and you're not likely to do that in situ.  Maybe correct it some time in the future if you ever have need to disassemble the transmission and can put the rear cover in a mill fixture to make it square.

Nothing special about the adjuster.  Should be easy to cut and file another one of slightly longer dimension for a few more threads.

Thx Patrick, I’ll probably just make a longer bolt while the clutch plates are still thick
