NGC Distinguished Gentleman's Ride Tomorrow
« on: September 28, 2019, 07:43:30 PM »
Got the Honda CB 750 Chopper clean and ready.  Got my bowtie and suspenders ready.  Raising money for Mens Mental Health and for fighting Prostate cancer.  Supposed to be in 90's in Chattanooga tomorrow.  Going to be warm!

Well, that ride was a BUST!  Broke my clutch cable adjuster at the lever.  Kind of made for a tough ride.  lol.  Also almost got hit by a dufus who ran a red light downtown.  That's enough for me.  Glad its over, I got my Honda CB 750 Chopper back home no problem and fixed the clutch lever adjuster so that's all good!  And I didn't get run over by the Dufus, so I guess all in all im good to go!  Next year Il do it again!!!  LOL.   :thumb:

Great photo, Bob!
Lisa and I went and checked out the bikes at Atlanta's "Gentlemen's Ride".
Pretty cool. Might do it next year on the old Bonneville.

Tazio….Yep you should do it.  Just a short ride but for a good cause.  Usually lots of cool bikes, but anymore here in Chattanooga there are a lot of new bikes, Thruxtons, etc and not a lot of older one anymore.  I like to see the older ones.  Have a great day.

Norfolk/ Virginia Beach DGR:

87F, pretty toasty to be all dressed up but still fun.  We had over 100 registered riders and lots of snappy dressers.  Oh, and some neat bikes too.

I did the ride here on OKC.  Dang if I hadn't left my camera on it was dead as a doornail, no photos.  Everyone got dressed up, so I went counter wearing jeans and Grateful Dead tie dye.

I was really surprised by the crowd, 50 bikes.  And we were weaving through town, about a 10 mile route with a couple dozen turns, no parade permit and the ride captain stopping and getting off his bike at several stop lights looking for stragglers.  At out first stop I suggested that whoever could read or knew the route should subdivide the group into 3 or 4 ride captains.  They compromised to make two groups.  The list of turns was so long (and unnumbered) so that I couldn't read the instructions from my tank bag.

The group made it to the end of the route at a local Irish bar.  We had one drop out due to heat, his buddy left to check him, one Speed Triple was dropped at the mid route rest stop but no one killed (that I know of).  It was nice meeting the younger crowd.  Don from the local Guzzi shop had several V7s there and was running chase vehicle with the shop truck.  I had a beer with younger set (local Coop Oktoberfest).  One guy was musician and was talking about his latest recording.  Another guy was in the legal Marijuana (cannabis) business, the latest gold rush here.

All in all, it was a good time, with several cool old and new bikes.  No photos.  Interesting to chat with folks doing different things.

Laugh your ass of guys.  Riding budd sent me this right after my post.

Grand Rapids had a wet one...all day. Everyone had a good time, no major issues...except the ironhead chopper that broke down after we all left for the day.

Best bike- 53 BSA thumper, far left in the photo:

interesting to me that in nearly all the photos of the various DGR events I've seen today, it's evident the motorcycle style restrictions are pretty much ignored. IMHO, given the stated intent of the fundraiser, I think that's a very good thing.

NYC had something like 900 bikes, and of course it was a mess.  I never planned on attending as I generally find this sort of thing to be taxing and dangerous. The pace for this march was 15mph with bikes running out of gas and general break downs here and there.  The guy who informed me of the ride bailed out about half way because it was just too much.
