Chuck, you've got to stop doing this, didn't you post that Norton single a couple of weeks ago, I got all excited over that one...it was excruciating, saying no, you can't do that, you can't...well I could, but I didn't!

Very nice! If it were mine I'd have to remove the frame mounted part of the fairing. No way my legs fit behind the cylinders!

Iffen it was a Lemans it might have 3x the asking price but the actual worth (what someone would ay for it) could be considerably different.

No, it's a real Lemans. Unfortunately the north American version is de-tuned compared to the European model, but with some modifications it can get up and go.

I think it's just as desirable as an first year LeMan, but the front fairing is squared off and the motor went from 850 to 1000cc. To me it's creepy weird the first model is into $20k these days while this is available at $7.5k.

But I'm a real bottom feeder, the cheaper the better

I think that these, and Le Mans III's are the next Guzzi models to up in price.   Get 'em now while they're still affordable.

thanks for cluing me in.  in the late 70s/early 80s, in the bmw world, they said the same thing about the euro vs. us airheads, bigger valves, bigger carbs, quicker,  etc.  probably true for all european makers trying to figure out our emission regs.  in an ironic twist of fate, their standards are higher than ours now.

I had never seen a Moto Guzzi in person, but I had longed for one for a lifetime after reading a glowing 1979 Cycle magazine article on the Lemans CX100. I remember the reviewers being awestruck by the sexy Italian lines, and describing the sporty looking bike as a very competent and composed gentleman's freight train express to ride, the ultimate in back roads bikes.

It didn't matter that at the time, almost all my riding was in the city or highways; I really hadn't discovered yet the synchronistic joy of riding a beautiful back road on a suitable bike, the seed of the mystique of the Lemans CX100, had been firmly planted.

Fast forward 35 yrs, retired, having lived and survived a crazier life than any person has a right to, in desperate need of some wind therapy;I wanted to get back into bikes, but nothing was making my heart go pitter patter, I had always loved big singles, some HD's, some old Airheads, but nothing was turning my crank.

7 yrs ago at Christmas there were 2 Lemans for sale in the area of Montreal Quebec, one was a Lemans ll in white, and the other, at half the price, in the faster color was a Lemans CX100, it was a no brainer. I was very kind to myself that Christmas, and have been so ever since.

It's been a tumultuous wild ride, the typical fiery Italian mistress relationship.

At the time I picked the bike up, I was living in the bush with a mile long lane way, my lifeline plow truck blew up, as far south and east as you can go in Ontario without ending up the St.Lawrence River. The tow bill alone for the caravan home ,Flatbed Tow Truck, plow truck, trailer & Lemans was $860; but having the CX100 safely home in my kitchen was worth a million bucks to me.

It's only a matter of time before people realize, that although not the most collectible, at only 353 total produced, they are arguably the rarest of the Lemans', and with the lower compression, small valve heads, in theory the easiest to live with. fwiw ymmv

She's a lifetime bike for me, here is a shot of her in her element at the beginning of Snye Rd, 100 curves in 10 km? just after completely redoing the suspension and shortly before I pulled her off the road, because of scarf in the tranny.

Parked in the garage, she still puts a smile on my face, fire up the Lafranconis, guaranteed, sh*t eating grin   :thumb:

Here is the one I regret selling.

Yes it came in White, the parts book lists all the part numbers including Red , White , and Blue

host an image

Color as delivered , Titled in White to original owner in Connecticut.

Since they only imported 350 units (it depends on who you talk to ) this is original white from the factory and is the

only CX100 LeMans in White  from the factory that I know of.

Any one have any additional info?

i sold it to a person in the St. Pete Florida who sold it again , whereabouts now unknown.

I still have coipes of the paperwork in case I needed to verify info after the sale.

But who's buying? The young folks in the 70/80's who lusted after them but didn't have the cash now have the cash an not the desire.

I think the wave has just about crested on the 60/70's stuff and I'd bet that a lot of these "classic" begin to decline in value as a new wave of "classic's" start to build.
