1 Jan- Cold Butt Ride to Seaba Station
« on: December 15, 2019, 10:27:18 AM »
The annual Cold Butt Ride is 1 Jan at Seaba Station Motorcycle Museum.  I noticed that they haven't updated their website but here's the skinny that was announced:

Raffle Bike is a Honda 996 Superhawk from early '00s.  The give away with be one PM on Jan 1st.

Seaba Station is on Rt 66 at Warwick OK.  You won't miss it if you haven't been there.

The BLHOT club (OKC) with ride up Rt 66, leaving at 11:30 AM from the gas station on SW corner of RT 66 (2nd Street Edmond) and I-35.

This is rain or shine deal.  Obviously if the weather is really crappy folks will drive rather than ride.  But there are some brave macho types that will ride any anything.  I don't purposely ride unless it's in the 40s and dry.  I plan to be there and hope to meet up with anyone from WG that makes it (provided the weather is acceptable).

So who's riding?  Halfway  to Tulsa, Muskogee, Ada, Skiatook, Wetumka, Ponca City and OKC.  Give or take.

Looks like temp in 50s?  Maybe warmer.  Guaranteed.

Win a Superhawk. 996

Tom, here's a photo of the raffle bike.  Low miles, original paint.  Their website isn't up to date but the phone number is good and I'm sure you can purchase a ticket.

For anyone considering attending, like all the way from Tulsa or Muskogee, there appears to be a lot more bikes than I've seen before.

I was just giving you the business.  You can bet if it's cold I won't ride there.  I'll probably drive there unless it's slick.

If you decide to go, give me a buzz and I'll meet ya in Chandler at the Boomerang (if they're open New Year's).

Will do . It isn't so much the cold as it is the really short days right now . The ride back to Muskogee is scary at dusk , there is a stretch about 40 miles long where the trees are right up to the road , like running thru a tunnel with deer lurking every 50 feet .

I messaged the museum on Facebook; they invited me to purchase tickets, so I did.

I/m planning on doing the short ride over there.
The best part of riding a motorcycle is to tilt the horizon and to lift the front coming out of a corner and to drift the back end powering thru loose dirt and to catch a little air topping a hill and... yeah it's all good!

The giveaway is 1pm (1300).  I think the BLHOT guys are leaving at 11:30.  We can meet at Seaba and have lunch at Chandler.  Dusty can be on the road by 2:30 and get home by 4.  I don't want to ride late either.

Or we can have a bite at the IOWAY Casino?  It's just a couple miles from Seaba and should be open NY's Day and the restaurant opens at 11:00.

I have made the trip from Warwick to Muskogee in 90 minutes , but doing so requires hauling the mail since it is about 105 miles the short way , and means coming thru Chandler , Stroud , Bristow , Beggs , and Slick .

How about we meet at the Casino around 1130?  We can have coffee and sandwich.  It's easy to find.

I am about 45 minutes aways and Darren about 30.

Well, any decisions?  I'm good to go.  Weather looks to cooperate nicely.

Any other takers

I'll run by your house to take off at 11.  Then to Ioway?  (Of course there's the chicken broaster in Luther.  Open?)

If not, we'll ride with the BLHOT at the gas station at 11:30.

let me know.

It was a pretty nice day for a ride.  Temps in  high 50s but the wind was pretty strong.  Big turn out.
