It makes me happy that someone is keeping these old things running , it makes me even happier that it is no longer me doing so .

Metoo. Twenty years riding and building and wrenching Brits. Don't miss the roadside repairs, either. Kudos to those keeping 'em going...

Why do Brits drink warm beer?  Lucas makes refrigerators..... I have heard everyone of them.  I have brought several back to life and enjoyed everyone of them.  I will have to say there is no sound like a British Twin on warm summer night. Here is a couple shots of my last one, sat in an open shed for a few years after the PO was involved in an accident, one of the best runners I ever owned.....

Thank you for that. I sent it on to my brother who has a 69 Bonneville he bought in 69- He keeps it in his garage to look at but won’t fix it up- It hasn't ran in maybe 30 years. When he first got it he found the cylinder walls had voids in the metal from the factory.

Thanks, that was great video, very well done. It reminded me of a roadside repair many years ago. A good buddy, another friend and I went to the races in Loudon NH from southern Conn. Before the races on Saturday morning after climbing out of the sleeping bags, we went for a ride to explore the countryside. I was riding a Yamaha YDS3 250, my buddy had a 305 Honda Dream. The friend had a Triumph that had been bumped up to 750 cc's. It was an XLCH killer as in fast. As we were cruising along, I was next to him, all of a sudden I heard a loud pop and then a steady pop, pop, pop. We pulled over to discover the left side spark plug had left the cylinder head. We got out tools and reinstalled it. Less than 1/4 mile down the road out it comes again. Now what, no one we know back home has a truck, or trailer or even a vehicle with trailer ball on top of that we were poor starving college kids with little money. So as we are trying to figure out what to do I wandering around on the shoulder of the road. I picked up a tab from a pop top beer can.  What if?  We cut a strip of aluminum from the tab and wrapped it around the threads on the plug. Got a socket from the tool kit that fit over the insulator but rested on the base of the plug. The friend drove this concoction into the plug hole with a hammer. It hung in there for the rest of the weekend. No banzai runs however. Of all the roadside repairs I have been involved with nothing compared to this one.
