Replace bulb on ITI Speedo? 2004 Cali Stone Touring

I have a 2004 California Stone Touring with the Black face ITI Speedo.  However the back light bulb has burned out and needs replacement.

No worries I thought. The service manual only had 4 steps to the replacement.  However after getting the chrome cover off, there are 2 sets of wires
that connect through rubber grommets.  They don't seem to turn to unlock.  Do you just pull on these to expose the bulbs for replacement?

The rubber socket just presses in.

Thanks much! I just used a bit more force and was able to remove them and access the bulbs.

This bulb looks to be what I had installed. does that seem right?

I'll take the bulbs in and match just to be sure, but It looks more like the 12v 1.2w shape.

It is a #73 or #74, I forget which. One is brighter then the other.

Just out of curiosity how many miles on the odometer?  The Iti speedos are very prone to having problems my wife’s 04 Stone went about 22K my 03 Ev went about 30,000. If you check past forum posts here you’ll find many relating to fix’s and replacement. I’m not sure you can do anything to prevent this but I have seen posts on filing lubing gears. Just saying you might want to inspect it while your in there.

You have to cut it open to lube it. There used to be a thread on how to do it..
