Stornello, Anniversario or Bobber
« on: April 08, 2020, 10:08:13 AM »
Really considering one of these as a stablemate to my will own forever Griso 1100.

Issue is, I’m not tiny. At 6’3” and 220, I’m worried about fitting comfortably and a bit worried about monkey fornicating a football thing.

I have seen some nice pricing on leftover ‘17 bobbers and think the Stornello and Anniversario are just gorgeous.

Let’s hear it!

I am 5'10" and my V7iii Racer feels a wee bit small to me.  I typically wear leather pants with heavy padding in the knees and the cylinder head/knee contact is often.  On the Racer you do sit a bit more forward vs. the Stornello or Anniversario.

Just seems a v7 ii or iii would be too compact.  But maybe some tall guys can chime in.  I assume if you are up for the lower pegs, bar risers, maybe custom higher seat you could sort it out.

And the weird thing, my Quota is comfort bike supreme!  Yes it is old and clunky and quirky, but it handles great, lots of leg room, and I don't know why it feels lighter and more nimble to me than a Stelvio.  But it sure ain't pretty like the 3 you are looking at.

The only thing I can recommend is to go sit on them and decide from there.

I am heading down to a dealer Friday to test sit on a couple bikes I am interested in.  I will sit on them for probably 10 to 20 minutes each to figure out the ergonomics before I decide which one I might want to test ride.  I don't test ride until I decide I would purchase if the test ride goes well, unless they have a demo bike.

For me it would be between the Stornello or Anniversario. The only V9 I have seen that I like is the Bobber Sport

I have the Stornello and love it. It is the perfect stablemate for my 4V Griso, and has a different feel and sound from the other V7ii models.  The Anniversario is very nice too, and if a iii has a more open seating position. The MGX is gone now (replaced it with a Convert).

I am 6' and 218. Made the move to down size last year from my Stelvio NTX. Had a hard time deciding between going with a V7 or V9. Made the choice added by very discounted price for a V9 Bobber. it has worked out for me just fine. Bike is plenty large enough and has turned out to be great fun ride.

To me, I think it comes down to which one you like best because unless you're really out of wack anything can be made to fit.

I do think the V9 has an advantage in feel, as it reminds me more of a BB. BUT
But that's just me.

The V7s really do it for me though.

Oh - Usedtobe.... I'm 5'10"/32" inseam and since I don't have a V7 with rearsets like the Racer my knees don't get anywhere near the heads/jugs. No heat whatsoever. That said the OP is longer then us, so I can't say about him on the standard controls.

Well I have a Griso and a Stornello and as far as the fit goes they are very similar. It's just the weight and the widness of the gas tank that are much different. BTW due to my HOA saying I have too many vehicles my Stornello is for sale

I don't see why the hate on the big front tire.

I think it visually looks more balanced.

But more importantly it does nothing bad to the handling.

I dont feel neither are "too small"  Granted I dont know if a V7 would be my first choice for two up traveling across country, but im 6'3" tall, and sadly at this point north of 250 and fit fine on the V7 bikes. The V9 is a tick bigger in feel...  But neither felt too small at all. I think we get locked in to "big guy, needs a big bike.." mind set..  Its more fit then size...  The old 1000SP are big bikes... but Im not putting my 34+" inseam legs behind the faring...

I've always felt what put me off the V9 was the awkward styling, mainly the 1/2 side cover and super thin seat. The roamer looked odd in that setup, and the bobber more balanced, but it seems Guzzi has addressed the seat situation for 2020. Now, to my eye, the Roamer looks much better than the bobber.

Indeed.....

The BS is a nice looking ride, the first of the V9's I liked.  I have to say though that a proper (well 1970's styled) seat completely changes the look of the Roamer, and brings a balance it lacked. If that is a gloss green, is gonna be hard to resist when it drops to 7K in 2022     I think stainless or chrome fenders would really set it off.

Green and the Red  Roamers are for other continents, not NA.   But for some reason those colors get black rear fenders.

I just don’t dig the bulbous front tire on Bobbers, or any bike for that matter.  Different strokes.

Yeah, I dont like how Guzzi cheaps out on most of their rear fenders. Most egregious is the fat black thing on the V7iii Special in that beautiful blue. I'd love to see it with the matching brushed aluminum fenders of the Stornello or Milano, or painted to match front. Same for the V9.

I didn't realize that mag was focussed on the Canadian Market. I think that the Gloss Dark or Irish Green on the V9 as pictured above would be stunning as a classic. Any idea what colors the US market will get? Likely only satin colors with tacky decals............. .... I'm just not a fan of the satin colors, with the exception of the Carbons. Totally get it there, but on everything else? C'MON
