After all that restoration, what are the chances the cylinders are still original chrome.  Show bike, not a go bike.

My educated guess is that this bike still has the original barrels.  In my experience which isn't vast -  (Charlie!) the original barrels have about the same color as the main housing.

My 74 Eldo a few years post restoration with about 5,000 miles on the "new" Gilardonis.  The barrels still have a noticeably brighter finish.

My V700 pre-restoration with original barrels.  The barrels have about the same finish/color as the main housing.

My V700 during restoration with new Gilardoni barrels.  The Gilardonis have a noticeably brighter finish.

The CL V700 barrels.  Not definitive by any means, but my vote is the original barrels are intact.  Hopefully the barrels were reconditioned during the restoration.

In my experience, those " in the know" always mention the cylinder update.

Not mentioned, not done.  I paid a lot of money for a nice police Ambo with all the bits.  I knew it had the original chrome cylinders.  Never started it or heard it run.  Loaded it into my truck and went straight to Charlie's shop for the boob job, and a long list of other things to make it road worthy.

Dave, did I mention you have really NICE stuff?

I don't know if you can call it a concourse restoration with vhb carbs instead of the SS1s'??? I get why, I did the same thing with my early ambo. also, the tabs are broken off of the battery covers like my ambo.
1970 = ambassador, so is it a  bitsa or a legitimate V7 polizia produced for the European market and imported?
I'd guess the paint scheme was picked to avoid re-chroming the tank side panels.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't kick it out of my garage. Seems a little pricey though.

Police and civilian ,all .

Only Guzzi produced until 1976.
Then, from the Le Mans I, all with left side shift.

I'm assuming the "tabs" they're referring are the supports on the top of the battery cover that the hold down bolts/knobs go through. It took me a while to spot that also.

Did a similar one years ago for a friend with the the blue/white paint scheme.  First day he rode it the Miami police made him remove the "polizia" script, saying it could confuse the tourists.  :copcar:

I have looked over Jeff's bike and spoken to him about it at Davenport.  It is a nice one!

Nice, but unfortunately it is of the wrong shade of blue.
Police blue is more like azure or sky-blue, the shade of that round sign on the front fender that reads "Polizia Stradale" (Highway Police).
That shade of dark blue is for the Carabinieri (that are the military police, but during peacetime works also as regular police).
BTW, that bike model also was for Guardia di Finanza (Tariffs and Customs, that also fight drug smuggling, money counterfeiting and tax evasion/fraud) and are of a light gray color.
And yes, they also act as police...

Nice looking bike! One would think, if a person went through the trouble of such a "correct" resto. he would have fabbed up a pair of those brackets. They seem easy enough to make with some flat stock, and a couple pieces of tubing.
