NGC: Morini 350 Sport FS in Georgia
« on: April 18, 2020, 08:33:00 AM »
I posted this to the Moto Morini FaceBook forum and thought maybe someone here might be interested—or know of someone interested in a Morini.

I was at my local bike shop in Decatur, GA (USA) last week and saw a 1977/8 3.5 Sport sitting dejectedly in the back. It was brought in for a set of new tires and service prior to sale but fell victim of an errant automobile driver collision. It was a relatively minor spill, but the rear frame needs a little adjustment. Some pieces are scuffed or missing. I looked in the tank and it seems clean at the top. It appears to me as 80-90% complete. The motor runs well according to the technician who pulled it out for me to photo. I am told it was sitting indoors for several years. This is a classic example of a very nice bike that no one wants to deal with.

I have zero interest in the sale (I have my own 1978 Sport) but thought it was a shame to let this sit unloved. I know the shop owners and they are good guys. They do not own the bike but the owner is a friend of a co-owner. He thinks the owner might sell for a decent price. I said that if the owner would sell for $3-4k, it might move.

If you are sincerely interested in pursuing a sale, PM me and I will pass along details for the shop along with a few more photos.

Are you sure about the year? Looks more like a '76 to me. My '77 Strada has cast wheels and the Sport that year likely would have as well. Also, I'm not sure it's a Sport - looks more like a Strada that has been "sportified". It should have clip-ons. It should have an "S" stamped into the engine case if it's a genuine Sport.

You are correct. It is a 1976 model, or at least that is what the photograph shows. It also appears to have an "S" where Sport models usually have them.

Someone must have changed the top triple clamp to a Strada one then and mounted 'bars. Perhaps they couldn't live with the clip-ons and too far forward footpegs.

Nice looking Morini, shame about the damage to the frame.
